    Xbox child/family settings

I’ve been trying for I think 2 years maybe to change my account from child to adult and it’s been irritating me and I think there should be a setting to change that so it wouldnt be annoying and I dont think I’m gonna wait a couple years just to do that
because that’s just plain stupid and ridiculous and Xbox should seriously take this into consideration for the near impossibility of changing a child account to an adult account

    :)

Cross-platform for child accounts don't work, no matter what settings I set

The cross-platform setting does not enable on a child account.

I have tried several options including:

    • Account setup as a child in the MS family account and Xbox
    • Account setup as a child in the MS family account but the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Account setup with over 18 Date of Birth in the MS family account but still a Child and the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Account setup as Adult in the MS family account and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
    • Changing the child account to Adult and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted.
Can someone help me how to set up my kid's accounts so they can play together?

Can't manage my child privacy settings

    Hi,

I've created a family and added my child to it, I can see it in the Family settings that my child is there.

The problem is when I try to manage XBOX privacy settings from this page, my child is not there, only myself so I can't manage his settings:

    Accedi al tuo account Microsoft

    What's wrong?

    Thanks

Sorry you're still a kid and your parent are the only one that can upgrade your account instantly to adult or come in age when you hit 18 or 20 depends on your location.

Contact MS account support as they might be able to give a work around. Good luck.

  5. There is no work around.

Whether an account is an adult or a child is determined by the date of birth when an account is originally setup.

When an account is under the age of majority it is required to have an adult account attached to it.

Once an account reaches the age of majority the adult account would need to sign in at account.microsoft.com/family and remove the child from the family and at that point it would be put into its own family as an adult.

The thing is this if an account is removed from a family and is still a child account based on its date of birth when it was originally setup the account will not be able to do anything including sign in on an xbox console till it is added back to a family
    as a child.

    Hello Lenny=best,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. An adult account will need to be tied to the child account through a family in order to regulate the

    child account settings
. Once the settings are updated for the child account, the child account should be able to redeem the prepaid code for the game. The article entitled

how to add a child to a family account
contains information on how to set up a family. Be sure to let us know the results!

Can't allow an exception for a game on a child account.

I'm wondering if there's something that tells Live that the account is a child other than just being listed as a child account in a family? When not in the family under my account, the child account seems to have full privilege to set it it's own family,
set content restrictions, etc. The DOB is set so the child is clearly under 18. Is there something else that the child account could be missing?

How do I make it so my child can stream on Xbox series s when hes old enough but it says it will be disabled

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good evening

If your child's Xbox Series S account is set up as a child account, there are a few steps you can take to allow your child to stream on the console when they are old enough.

Make sure that your child's account is linked to a parent account. If it is not already linked, you can link the child account to a parent account by going to "Settings" > "Account" > "Family" on the console, and then following the prompts to link the accounts.

Once the child account is linked to a parent account, the parent can change the privacy and online safety settings for the child account by going to "Settings" > "Account" > "Family" > "Manage family members" > [child's name] > "Privacy & online safety".

Under the "Privacy & online safety" settings, the parent can change the settings for "Online safety" and "Broadcasting". For example, the parent can allow the child to participate in multiplayer gaming and share content online, or allow the child to stream content.

If the parent account is not able to change the settings for the child account, it may be because the child account is set up as a "Younger child" account. In this case, the parent will need to request that the child's account be converted to a "Child" account. This can be done by going to "Settings" > "Account" > "Family" > "Manage family members" > [child's name] > "Change to a child account".

I hope this information helps you allow your child to stream on the Xbox Series S.
