Xbox Chat Issue (Mic Icon Always On Even When Unplugged)

I just got this last night while playing Destiny, mid - raid (such is my luck) and I can't explain how annoying this is, can't believe it's been going on for around 3 years, says a lot about M$ **** attention to serious problems, I already tried pretty much
everything that looked like an actual solution and not just troubleshooting bs, still no fix.

Really disappointed about this, makes me wonder if I'll ever continue with Microsoft after this.

 

Well I too just got the problem where out of nowhere my mic suddently stopped registering sound, I can hear other people but my mic doesnt work and i am pretty sure the headset is ok, this started happening after I tried the appear offline function on the
xbox one

 

Im sprry bit i just have to say this, but this is why xbox is slowly dieing.

 

I'm also having the same issue as of tonight. I see Microsoft doesn't give a ****.

 

What is going on with this? My xbox one is essentially unusable for games at this point. I don't play single player games and if I can't talk to my friends, I'd rather not even play.

 

my Xbox is exactly the same as all of these and customer service has been appalling. Xbox please reply and help us fix it.

 

So i've been playing mostly single player games for a year and a half or not joining chats for multiplayer until now and realized the same thing that my mic was not going through in party chat. There were times i was able to talk if i turned the jack, or
w/e it's called, into the perfect position, but if i moved the controller, i went back to being unable to be heard. I can hear everyone else perfectly though. I bought a new headset and a new controller, still same problem. Due to laziness, and not wanting
to get up to get my headset and try again, i pulled my ear buds that came with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and plugged those in to my controller. The ear buds, also having a mic, actually allowed me to listen perfectly and talk perfectly in party chat........ Not
sure if this can help anyone else having chat problems, but you can try. I'm wondering though why these buds work but not my two Turtle Beach headsets.

Yes! I am having the same problem. I got my Xbox One S a couple days ago and the mic doesn't work. I can hear everything, but no one can hear me. Everyone in game chat can see my mic symbol. I have tried using apple headphones for a mic doesn't work. Bought
adapter for my Xbox 360 turtle beaches doesn't work. I have tired all the things listed, but still no speech will go through ANY mic. It sounds like I am doing something wrong or Microsoft is having a glitch of some kind. If there is this many people having
similar problems then something is up. I'm glad that I am not the only one with this issue.

 

Yeah I've had this problem for quite some time... I've tried everything and nothing fixes it. Microsoft you need to pick you game up... a lot of online games I need to talk to be able to communicate with my team. Would really like a answer for why my mic
won't work and the new one that in bought does the same exact thing.

 

I'm sorry but come on. Ive had this issue for a literaly a year and the last i heard was that Microsoft were working on a fix. I come back a year later to find that NO progress has been made and everybody who has this issue has been left in the dark. Please
just find a fix.

 

Don't really wanna beat a dead horse but I am also having this problem and I've spoke to two different Microsoft "professionals" that persist on telling me that my mic or controller is the issue when I spent $170 on a new mic and controller. Have open NAT
type tried opening router ports etc not a network issue & not a controller issue. But, for some reason when I plug Samsung earphones into my AUX on my controller, I am able to talk. But since I've spent $100 on a headset I don't feel the need to talk out of
earphones. I've also had this problem for a WHILE now

 

Has this worked for ANYONE!?

I've literally tried every troubleshooting step available, bought a new controller, new headset and NOTHING. I got my Xbox One S in MAY of this year so I figured I'm lucky enough to get it replaced. After paying $15 for the replacement console (shipping
costs) I tried it and NOPE. Not even a brand new console fixed anything. I'm really considering just selling everything because the whole reason I got Xbox was to play with my friends, who can't hear jack from me.

Abysmal and embarrassing customer service on Microsoft's end. I'm done with Xbox.

 

***SOLUTION***

This may not work for everyone. I bought a 3rd headset (ridiculous) but this was NOT one that plugged into the headphone jack. I just got the xbox one standard headset that plugs into the bottom of controller. Don't understand why the jack wouldn't work
but I hope this simple fix works for some of you guys.
