Xbox Chat Headset Not Working

I got my chat headsets from the Microsoft Store in Ohio on June 7th at the Easton Mall. When I returned to Illinois to set it up on my XBOX console, the microphone sometimes works and doesn't work when I connect the headsets to my controller. Every time
I turn on my console with the headsets plugged in, it normally works and doesn't work. Then when I was invited to the XBOX Preview Program, I updated the console with the latest preview that included Cortana along with the new UI. My headsets wasn't working
when I tried out Cortana. Is there a way to fix this solution?

Connecting Turtle Beach Earforce x41 to xbox 1

Have an Earforce x41 headset for xbox 360, recently purchased xbox1 and the headset adapter. I have updated the controller and game volume works fine through headset but chat is not working. Any Suggestions?

I am not sure what head set you purchased from the Microsoft store as it could be the stock one or the stereo one so I will list both trouble shooting option for you below.

Also do you have a extra controller to test it in just incase it may be a issue with the controller?

The microphone does not work in any games nor does it work in party chats. The headset is the standard headset that comes with an xbox purchase.

There are currently no bluetooth headsets available for Xbox One. There are a number of wireless headset options on the market though. The Xbox 360 Wireless chat headset would not work with it.

Here is how I understand the whole headset compatability works (maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong):

GAME AUDIO

If your headset gets the game audio via a box linked to your gaming machine via optic audio out - this audio will continue to work as designed, as the xbox One has optic out as well.

CHAT AUDIO

If your headset gets the chat audio via a direct bluetooth wireless link to the xbox360 machine - then this headset will not work with chat audio on the xbox One.

If your headset gets the chat audio wireless via a bluetooth puck that plugs into the 360 controller (not a direct wireless link to the gaming machine) -then this may work with the xbox One depending on how the forthcoming adapter works with next gen controllers.

If your headset gets the chat audio via a cable directly connected to your xbox360 controller - then this may work on the xbox One depending on how the upcoming adapter works with the xbox One controller.

Thoes which say they are compactable with Xbox one in the title or on the box will work.

For headsets that don’t you can get the Microsoft chat headset adaptor to allow unsupported headsets to work.

Does the headset work when the controller is connected to the Xbox?

In the Xbox Accessories app (on the PC), does your headset show up?

What type of headset are you trying to use? Is it a chat headset for Xbox, a phone headset...?
