    Xbox chat headset - microphone is not working


    The mic on my xbox one chat headset stopped working yesterday. It was fine in the morning, but in the afternoon it no longer transmits my voice. I can hear fine, but no one can hear me.

    If I bend the cord slightly then the mic works, so I'm assuming there is a problem with the cord. There is no sign of physical damage to the cord, and I generally take good care of my stuff (e.g. never pulling on the cord directly). Is this something Microsoft
    will replace because it seems like the product just failed under normal use.

    Broken microphone

    The microphone does not work in any games nor does it work in party chats. The headset is the standard headset that comes with an xbox purchase.

    Astro A50's not working in party chat or game chat on Backwards Compatible games

    Does the headset work on Xbox One Party chat (i.e. do you see a circle around your gamerpic in the party chat on Xbox One)?

    Are only Backwards compatible games affected? If so, it might be that the Astro A50 base station acts as a USB microphone, which doesn't work as Chat microphone on the Xbox 360.

    You might have to contact the Astro A50 support for information on how to use that headset on backwards compatible titles.
    Yeah it works on the Xbox One party chat but yeah that's what i was thinking i might just have to get a old Xbox One chat headset for it to work.

    From my understanding, you would like to turn off your microphone on either a Kinect device or a headset connected to your Xbox console. I may need some more information to be as helpful as possible. For starters, I need to know if this is an Xbox 360 or
    an Xbox One. I will also need to know if it is on a Kinect device or a headset, and if it is a headset then I will need to know which one. Regardless, here is what I can offer you based on the information I do have.

    To turn off the Kinect microphone on the Xbox One, it is as simple as going to your settings and selecting Kinect. From there you will see the option to deselect the 'Kinect microphone for chat' option. Voice commands will still work, but no one will hear
    you in party or in-game.

    There are multiple microphones that work with the Xbox One and as such, there may be multiple ways to disable it. I will link a guide to Chat headset below.

    I believe I know what the problem is. Mine was working fine, chat coming through headset but then it reversed itself. I believe this was due to selecting "Use Kinect microphone for chat" under Settings>Kinect>Use Kinect microphone for chat. After I unselected
    it the headset was again providing chat ability and not my TV/speakers.
