Discus and support Xbox capped at 100mbps in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; hi there i just upgraded my internet and I'm now on a 250mb download package and I can achieve up to 260. using a laptop via LAN I can get 250mb...     Xbox capped at 100mbps


    hi there

    i just upgraded my internet and I'm now on a 250mb download package and I can achieve up to 260.

    using a laptop via LAN I can get 250mb

    using iPad/iPhone via wifi I'm able to get 250mb

    the Xbox one wired I don't get any further than 90mb down.

    Does anyone know why?

    Xbox Live disconnects after 5 minutes...

    WiFi doesn't disconnect by the way but it's capped at 22mbps which is annoying since I have a 300mbps connection...

    Wired it connects at about 100mbps even though just for 5 minutes...

    Hi there bauerschild,

    There's a simple, and highly logical explanation, and that has to do with distance and the amount of time it would take for packets, between two IP speaking devices, to bidirectional traverse the Internet.

    If you were to compare the throughput/bandwidth test using your laptop, in comparizon to your Xbox thrput/BW, you would then have to change the location of the test server to a test server located in Seattle, WA (US). There's a server located in Seattle,
    WA where your console obtain its network statistics from, such as BW/speed/ping etc.

    Go to speedtest.net and change the location of server to a server located in Seattle, WA (US) and have us know the outcome from this test.

    I'll do that test next time I get the laptop out.

    On the other hand if I do a speed test from my Xbox to local ISP I still get the 90mbps cap

    That doesn't necessarily mean that your Xbox traffic is being shaped, but rather relayed. After all, Xbox live is its own framework.

    Wifi is faster than ethernet on Xbox Series X?!

    Wifi terminates in a LAN connection, so due to latency and other issues will always be slower. If you plug a gigabit mesh router into a 100mbps port it’ll still be capped at 100mbps.
