Xbox can't connect to the internet

Whenever I try to connect to XBL I get a message saying "Your console can't connect to Xbox Live blah blah blah..." and it says 80151909 at the bottom. When I test the connection, it fails when it tries to connect to the internet, but my computer connects
to the internet just fine. I actually fixed it by getting another router, but after a few days it stopped connecting again.

What Country/State/Province do you live in? Harrison, OH (U.S.)

Modem brand & model number: Motorola SBV5121 Cable Modem

Router brand & model number: Netgear N300 Wireless Router WNR2000 v4 (the new one, I threw away the old one but I remember it was Netgear)

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter? Internal Xbox360S

Things you have tried: Turning router/modem off and on, moving router/modem closer to my Xbox, using wired instead of wireless, getting a new router (worked for a few days then started having the same issue).

Is UPnP Enabled? Unknown.

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? No.

Any Error Codes you encounter: 80151909

Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner Cable.

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

W: 0000 - 0021

X: 0000 - F001

Y: 0000 - 0000

Z: 0000 - 0000

ID: FFFF - FFFF

L: 0015 - 10F1

Can't connect to the internet

I'm trying to connect to Xbox live and I go to the network and connect and is says "can't connect to your DHCP server" what do I need to do to fix it

If it's possible, can you verify if you can connect properly by connecting your console directly into your Motorola cable modem, instaed of taking the route through your router.

Go to your console's network settings and select Configure Network. Select the
Additional tab and Restore network settings to factory defualts.

You may also want to clear your console's system cache (repeat this process three times in a row).

Power off your console.

Unplug your router from the modem and power off your modem for 1 minute.

Power on your modem and wait 1 minute for it to connect properly.

Connect your console to your modem and start your console.

Go to Xbox Network settings and select Test Xbox Live Connection.

Post back and let us know if you're still experiencing error code 80151909.

 

I just tried all of that and I'm still having the same problem.

 

Similar problem here. Yesterday my daughter bought a new XBox 'One', and my son bought a new XBox '360'. We plan to use our wireless network for both. When setting up, the 'One' connects all the way through to XBox Live with no problems, whereas the '360'
only goes through stage one only (so our local home network), it almost always fails at the 'internet' stage (sometimes says connected but rarely), but it has never made the XBox Live stage?

Every other wireless item in the house hooks up perfectly to the talktalk server via our nearly new D-Link wireless modem/router (PC'S, Laptops, Ipads, Ipods, Iphones you name it), so loathe to think its a local network problem.

I've tried everything I've read so far such as resetting the router, resetting to factory the '360', resetting the cache in the '360'.

Any ideas.

@codeman101360 - just to clarify. Did you bypass your router and connected your console direclty into your modem to no avail?

If it's possible, can you try with a method that includes a different storage device, as your primary. Here's how:

With your console powered off,
safely remove the hard drive.

Plug in a USB flash drive, that has been formatted for use with the Xbox 360, into one of the USB ports in front of your console.

Turn on your console. If the system update needs to be installed on your USB drive, then apply this update.

As soon as the dashboard has been completely booted up, go to Xbox network settings and select Test Xbox Live Connection.

Now, try download your profile from Live to USB drive.

Let me know if you still experiencing error code 80151909.

 

@Claudio Mete - Do you also experiencing error code 80151909 and connect with Time Warner Cable, as your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

 

Yes, I connected it directly into the modem. And I just tried the thing with the flash drive, still can't connect to the internet. : (

 

Add the hard drive back into your console and connect your console directly into your modem.

Please run a traceroute from your console and let us know where you see the broken or the slow link in the chain. Each hop represent a link in the chain.

Go to Xbox Network settings. Select your connection type and press the following combo on your controller:

LT RT RT LT RB LB and select tracert.xbox.com



Alternatively, if it's possible, try connect your console to a different network (eg. friends house) and let us know if you can connect properly.

 

This is what it says:

And then 12-30 just say the ping is * and IP request timed out, just like the first one.

 

The first hop in this situation are of no concern.

Can you do a traceroute as per my previous post and use the left stick on your controller, to scroll down. Let me know if your machine is able to traceroute (successfully) all the way to its destination. If not, post up the very last hop, for the subsequent
hops that times out.

May I ask, have you try to connect your console at friends house?
