  6. Hello Gearard McG and KPR99,

Please let me know if this information works for a resolution.

If you've got a BT Home Hub 4 or Hub 5, you may get an error message when trying to connect your Xbox. Here's how to fix it:

    1. If you have an older type Xbox, check that your wireless adapter is plugged in correctly (shown below left). If you have a newer type of Xbox (shown below right) then you have wireless built in as standard.

    2. After switching your Xbox on, you will see the main Xbox dashboard page

    3. Press up on your controller and scroll right until you get to "settings", then press down to the "System" icon and press A

    4. Highlight “Network Settings” and press A

    5. Scroll right until you highlight your hubs network name and press

    6. Enter your hubs wireless password and select “Done”

    7. The Xbox will then attempt to perform a network test. You may be warned that this will sign everyone out. Select “Yes” and the test will start

    8. The Xbox will then test your connection, once the Network Status shows as connected press Press B on your control pad to finish the set-up

If you’re struggling to set up your games console, BT Tech Experts can help

Problems connecting your Xbox wirelessly to the BT Home Hub 4 or Hub 5

When trying to connect your Xbox to the BT Home Hub 4 or Hub 5 you may see this error:

"There is more than one network in range that has this SSID, please change your router SSID before proceeding"

Because the BT Home Hub 4 and Hub 5 are dual band, they broadcast two SSIDs with the same name. As the Xbox was released some years ago, it wasn't set up to deal with this type of dual band wireless connection.

To connect your Xbox wirelessly, you'll need to change one of the SSIDs first. Here's how:

    (bt.custhelp.com/.../L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDEwNjE4OTY2L3NpZC9GMUVtbmkybQ%3D%3D)

    1. Access the Hub Manager on your computer by typing api.home into the address bar of the internet browser, then click Advanced Settings

2.Next enter the Hub Manager admin password (found on the Hub settings card at the back of the Hub) and click OK

    3. Click Continue to Advanced Settings

    4. Click Wireless

    5. From here you can change the SSID name being broadcast. In this example here we've added 2.4GHz at the end of the name to easily identify this as the 2.4GHZ band. But you can change the name to anything you want. In the Wireless SSID section enter a new
    name and click Apply

    6. Click Yes for the changes to be applied

    7. Now you've changed the SSID, you'll need to reconnect any other wireless devices you've previously connected

You should now be able to connect your Xbox to your Hub 4 or Hub 5. Here are instructions if you need:
    bt.custhelp.com/.../11248

I hope you two and others who are also getting this problem get this resolved as quick as possible, please let me know you get on.

    Regards,

    Daniel

  10. It's a shame that you can't currently use what you want to use it for. I'm having ISP trouble currently with TalkTalk and shall promptly be switching to Plusnet when the contract runs out in Feb '15 Awful experience I've had with TalkTalk, and phone support
    make you want to scream.

Still, I hope they can sort out your issue!

    Greetings Katherine!

State whether you use the external wireless network adapter (white, or black), or the internal (Xbox 360 S/E).

Do you connect your console wireless, directly to your HH, or do you use any device in between this route?

Can you try the following steps and let us know how that goes.

Go to Xbox Network settings and select Configure Network. Select the Addtional settings tab and
Restore network settings to factory defaults.

    Turn off your console.

Restore your HomeHub to factory defaults. Consult the manual, how to hardware reset this device properly.

Note! If your ISP assign you with username and password, to authenticate connectivity to your ISP's network and to the Internet-at-large, you have to know the username and password for the authentication process.

When your HH settings is restored to factory defaults, configure wireless settings manually. Don't use any setup wizard for this process.

Since the HH5 is operating in the 2.4 GHz range and 5 Ghz range, choose a different WLAN name for each band. These names should consist of a single word (no spaces).

For security and encryption, select WPA2-PSK with AES.

Select a password/passphrase for your WLAN.

Make sure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is ticked enable.

    Save/Apply and reboot your HH.

Before you connect your console, move your console as close-by to the HH and if you connect a wireless headset to your console (eg. Turtle Beach with ditigal RF transmitter) unplug this device.

Turn on your console and scan for available network and try connect your WLAN.

Post back and let us know how that goes.
