    XBox button unavailable after Forza 5 glitch requiring XB1 hard boot


    So, I have found an infuriating error with Forza Motorsports 5. When creating a saved object (car design, vinyl group, car setup, etc.) where the virtual keyboard comes up to name the object there is a chance that the controller becomes unresponsive requiring
    any keyboard input to be made via Smart Glass. When this happens, the XBox button on all controllers and the Smart Glass app become unresponsive (i.e., they will not return you home). The only solution I have found to fix the problem is to unplug the XBox
    One, wait a minute, plug it back in and power it back on.

    I know Forza 5 is an older game, but has anyone else seen this behavior? I bought the game as a new disc just over a month ago and this problem seems to crop up every 2nd or 3rd time I play the game.

    Do a cold boot of the XB1. This has happened to me a couple times since launch, usually after like 5-6 days.

    Have you ever hard rebooted your xbox since setting it up? There appears to be a memory leak issue and the hard reboot clears it.

    While the XB1 is powered on, hold (touch) the power button for 5-10 second until it turns off. Give it a few seconds then press the power button to turn it on. The boot will take a little longer than the normal 'wakeup' startup time, but the memory will
    be cleared and the entire system will respond much better.

    this is the alert when trying to power on the controller after troubleshooting

    TROUBLESHOOTING METHOD:

    hard reset xbox

    unplug power and video cables

    remove battery pack from controller

    inster usb to micro cable(oem play and charge)

    re insert power and video cables

    boot xbox one

    once fully booted and connected via usb

    hold guide button and menus button for 5-10 sec.

    at this point a quick flash on the guide button and the alert on the tv is all i got out of it

    I've found that it's also a good idea to do a "hard" shutdown every few days (Hold the power button down for 5-6 seconds until the light on the power adapter flashes). It will take a little longer to boot up the next time you turn it on, but that's no big
    deal.

    If you use a bunch of apps or switch between different games repeatedly, the console keeps a lot of stuff running in background, and it can cause some minor game glitches after a while.

    Strange I also had the same issue tonight. Booted the Xbox up, everything seemed slow to respond (pins etc) thought I would try and play Forza 5. Splash screen loaded up for Forza but then straight back to the dashboard tried it several times same issue.
    Then I held the button on the console for 5 seconds, booted the machine again and it now works a treat. Must be running out of memory (not HDD) Memory leak could it be???
