Xbox Bricked after Microsoft mandatory update.

Chances are there was an underlying issue. You do not know if there was a hdd fault. I have seen others have hdd faults occur after a power outage or even just doing a full power cycle. Also after years of working in the technology industry, I have seen
the same issues with PC's, laptops and servers. You can't see what's causing the issue, only a technician with the right test equipment can determine the fault. There were bugs, as there always is but that is what Insider Preview helps filter out. During that
process (many months) there were no console destroying issues.

 

It really doesn't matter, even if there is a "fault", it was CAUSE BY or become a problem BECAUSE of the update.

Now, I don't think anything is wrong mechanically with my system, it has worked fine for its entire life and worked fine up until the second the update came. Regardless, this is besides the point. Even if something was wrong with my console, it wasn't a
problem until the update hit.

No matter how you look at this, it is the update that made my console a brick. There is absolutely no other perspective or bath of logic that denies that fact. It is irrefutable. To suggest anything else would be delusional.

With that said, I do appreciate you trying to help me out by providing an explanation. And if my response seems a little heated I mean no disrespect. It is just frustrating for someone to suggest it was my own or my consoles fault. It so very clearly is
not.

If it gave out on its own I would understand, it is old, it ran for longer than many others do. But it's life has been cut short by something Microsoft did. I refuse to allow my console to be broken by them without some sort of reconciliation.

It is simply incoherent and idiotic to be complacent at all with what has occurred to me here and seemingly quite a few others. I suggest whoever reads this to not be tricked or naive.

 

With this update my xbox wont stay on longer then 5 mins. It's really making me frustrated. My xbox one was just fine till this update. I have no clue what I can do to keep it running or if I'll have enough time to do anything before it shuts off. Microsoft
needs to test updates before pushing them out. Being an it tech it's a nightmareeeeee

 

Hi, try doing a factory reset keeping all games and apps settings>system>console info>reset console.

As for testing, it went through Alpha, Beta, Delta, Omega Insider Preview test rings. This has been tested for months now. Bugs were found and ironed out but as you should know, even with the best testing, some issues will slip the net. There were a few
updates that didn't go through for some but there are methods (factory reset) to get a fresh update. Once the OS goes public you can also do a repair by using offline software updates via a USB.

 

Hi njal blue ,id like to try a factory reset but it wont power on the power wire lights up orange till i plug in the xbox the the light turns white,then turns off x box never turns on. Thank you for your help.

I am not arguing that there was allot of testing that went into this update. All I am saying is it caused the problem regardless of any other facts. If you read a little through this thread, it becomes irrefutably clear the update broke my console.

I hope some of these solutions work for other people. But in my example, I have tried absolutely everything. My power supply works fine, the console does turn on but goes straight to the update screen where it fails to update the console.

I have tried offline update, I have tried using multiple different USB drives as well as tried all the USB ports on my console. I brought it up to the Microsoft store and had them do the same thing.

Nothing works, it always fails. The update is not installing on my console. The console works fine, it is the update that is the problem. I really want a solution for this or a free repair.

I know you Ambassadors and Mods are not at fault here. I just think it is important for you to understand the problem clearly. I don't need any excuses, I find them infuriating. Microsoft has made a mistake. For whatever reason, pre-existing problem with
my console, or purely issue with the update, the update itself is what cause my console to not work. I know if I went back to the old OS it would work as it had all the way up to the second before the update hit.

In summary, they were unable to do anything. They wanted to help, but had no means to.

I'm telling you, this is shady and really disappointing what I am experiencing here.

 

Wow dude, it's been a couple weeks. No one cares, no one will help.

Microsoft just bluntly bricks my perfectly fine Xbox by forcing an update on me then drops me like I don't exist.

I cannot believe the world today.

 

Yeah man it's been the longest 2 weeks of my life. I'm going to be couple of repair shops today if I have time. Hopefully they know a quick and cheap solution. Still debating on taking my .45 to it and sending back to Seattle.
