Xbox Bricked After Latest Update

I have an Xbox One X that has been working perfectly fine until this last week. I noticed it did not want to turn off, but there was no video output despite still showing that it was on. I did a forced shutdown on it, and when I started it back up, it would only show what I have seen in other threads now as "the black screen of death."

I followed all suggested routes of unplugging it for 30 seconds, plugging it back in, going through the offline system reset, etc. I have tried the route of a USB flash drive (properly formatted) with the OSU only on the drive, and that would not work. I clicked the option to let it reset to factory and lose all games and files, and that did not work. When trying to submit a service ticket on it, I was told my Xbox is out of warranty and would cost $250 to repair or receive a refurbished one.

I called the support line and was told the same thing, even after explaining that this has been a reported issue for many console owners, and I got the same suggestion to pay the $250 for a refurbished one due to being out of warranty.

I just want to know if there is another route to go, or another person to talk to. I understand my console is out of warranty, but I should not have to pay for a repair of an item that would otherwise work if the company that made it hadn't caused it to fail - especially if this is happening to so many people. That can't be the way Microsoft and Xbox want to represent themselves.

And on top of all that, I have the Taco Bell edition that I am going to miss hearing start up with that classic "ding" (not as serious of an issue, admittedly - a refurbished one at no cost would suffice).

Although I understand that it seems you have an update problem, it is actually not the update the problem as would be every user having the same situation with the same update

And the question arises, Why it appears during the update? My console worked before, this it's an example of what could happened, as it can't be defined until it's review by a specialist

The hard disk is divided into sectors, each sector remains with the information that is recorded in it until a change is required in it, sometimes a damaged sector appears on the disk, this may not cause any problem for months, but the time comes when it is required to use it for an important file, in this case an update of the operating system, since the information of that sector cannot be overwritten, the error you present at this time appears

You may have interrupted an update when you forced shutdown and it's corrupted the OS.

All I can suggest is, before you do the Offline System update OSU1 disconnect any wired ethernet network cable to the console.

Prior to doing any OSU1, factory refresh the console while its not connected to your network using the troubleshooting screen.

If you get to the Home screen try connecting Wifi, if not, reconnect the ethernet cable.

If the console connects to network it should update the OS and therefore the OSU1 is not required.

I tried your recommendation for the three times, and I keep getting the same error. Have to say I disagree in this case that "that's how warranty works on any device you purchase," when it is established that multiple people are getting bricked by an update. That's just bad business. I appreciate the recommendation though for the different reset method - would love to see someone with the miracle solution.

Once the console it's out of warranty the only option to replace it trough Xbox is by paying the replacement cost, that's how warranty works on any device you purchase, and most of them wont offer a replacement for a lower cost

About the issue you are facing, please if you are doing the process while you have USB devices plugged unplug them, and then try to factory reset the console deleting the content at least 3 times
