Xbox Box Audio Problems via Bitstream. Where is my center channel audio?!?!?

I have an older receiver; Anthem AVM30 pre/pro, with no hdmi switching therefore use an optical cable for audio. The console is set to hdmi audio off and optical to bitstream. I have zero center channel sound. My Anthem detects 5.1 input but no audible sound
through the center channel. If I downgrade the audio to stereo I get sound in my center channel; but who wants that! I have read several articles on this problem but cannot find a solution.

Are there any updates on the vital issue? I have had my console for almost a week now and have not played a single game due to being so frustrated with this initial setting.

    Thanks

    :)

Check to see if you're getting audio out of your rear speakers at all. I'm having a similar issue where I can't get 5.1 audio from my xbox one through my soundbar. I've got a 5.1 system connected via HDMI (and tried all of the 5.1 uncompressed, bitstream,
and everything else) and I keep losing my center channel (the one where all the voices come from) and the rear channels are just gone.

This whole HDMI bitrate vs 7.1 uncompressed is driving me nuts?!?! What is the best/correct setting?!?!

I don't agree with a few of the posts on here regarding Bitstream & PCM... PCM is two channel uncompressed audio while bitstream is the RAW signal as it's being stripped from the source material - you should pretty much ALWAYS select bitstream - as that
will give you the native RAW data stream. Example: If you buy movies on "Xbox Video" from the Xbox Store and it's saaved on your Xbox in HD - if you're set to PCM the audio will be down-mixed to 2.0 and your decoder (Surround Receiver) with then have to sum-to-mono
to create a center channel audio as well as fabricate surround data / however: if you set your Xbox to bitstream then your decoder (Surround Receiver) will get discrete muti-channel audio / and that is a HUGE advantage

OK My bad please remove post. I didn't realize there is no center channel present in the dashboard but once the game loads all 7 channels are receiving audio. I should have tested it with a game first but thought no center channel audio on startup was a
problem with overall audio for all applications.
