Xbox Blu-Ray player not working

I'm trying to play a DVD on my xbox one for the first time since purchase. I was prompted to install the Blu-Ray app which I have done. However, when i try to play any DVD (tested with 10 different discs), the app just stops on the blue load screen with
the loading circle. The audio plays in the background but there is no image and the loading screen just stays.

I have reset my console each time a new disc was inserted to no effect. Is there anything i can try to get the app working and play DVDs, Don't really want something I paid £400 for to not be able to do such a simple task.

See, and I'm totally the opposite. I don't buy tons of movies anymore, but when I do, I buy the Blu-ray version. Most of the time it comes with a regular dvd anyways. I almost use my PS3 exclusively to play Blu-rays. Nine out of ten times if I buy a game, I buy it for the Xbox. The only time I play the PS3 is for the Sony exclusive titles like Uncharted or GoW.

The disc's audio was playing? Like, say you put Iron Man into the console. You only see the Blu-ray splash screen, but you hear Iron Man audio? Or do you just hear the Drive spinning up?

I've had a disc fail to load in the way you described, but I've never seen/heard it actually play audio back.

Just tried the Blu Ray on a PS3 and it works like a charm, so it's definatly a bug on the Blu-Ray Player on the Xbox One!

I purchased "The River" Blu Ray at my local fly fishing shop the other day and it will not play in my Xbox One.

I brought it to a friend's house that has other Blu Ray players and it works just fine in the non-Xbox Blu Ray players (it won't work in his Xbox One either.)

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Nah, no voice controls with blu ray. Those commands work with Netflix, amazon, and xbox video but it's strangely absent from the blu ray player. Throw in a blu ray and check it out, check out how dumb the controls are too. They could be sooo much better.

No I would expect a blu ray player to play DVDs as good as a standalone DVD player. Blu Ray players don't magically improve DVDs. The problem would appear to be that the One blu Ray player doesn't perform well when playing DVDs in comparison to other
Blu Ray players.

I can provide you with some basic tips so long.

Set up and install the Blu-ray and DVD player app on Xbox

To watch Blu-ray or DVD movies on your Xbox console, you first need to install the Blu-ray Player app. To install the app, choose one of the following options.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, select Home, and then select Store.

Select Search and enter Blu-ray in the search bar. Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears in the list of results.

Select Install to download and install the app.

Insert a Blu-ray or DVD disc into your Xbox.

Select the Blu-ray Player app when it appears.

On the Blu-ray Player app details page, select Install.

Your disc should start playing automatically.

After the app is installed, you can watch Blu-ray or DVD movies by inserting the disc into your Xbox console and selecting Blu-ray Player on the Home screen, or by finding it under My games & apps
