Xbox blank home screen

My xbox is booting to a black screen. It will show the green xbox screen and then go to a black screen. If I press the xbox button on the remote nothing happens. If I press and hold the xbox button on the remote then the power off menu will pop up.

I have tried:

Selecting restart from the power off menu

Selecting power off from the power off menu

Pressing and holding the power button on the xbox until it powered off and powered back on

Pressing and holding the power button on the xbox until it powered off and powered back on while holding the power button and the eject button at the same time until I heard a second power up

Pressed and held the power off option until it powered off and pulled the power cord for 10 minutes and plugged it back in

This also occurs when I stream through the xbox app on my phone and it has the same issue so it isn't my TV or HDMI cord.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Factory reset fixed the problem! Gotta keep that one in the tool box for sure! Thank you so much!

So the first thing we need to do is check and see if you can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Try doing this for me:

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in. Press and hold the SYNC button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console. Continue holding the SYNC and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the SYNC and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter, let me know if you see it okay?

It would be a mix of either the green Xbox startup screen or just my home screen but blank. Fortunately I was able to find a fix and all is well now!

The latest update only made things worse!...now it goes to a blank screen just being idle on the home screen...

We understand that you're experiencing an issue concerning the inability to use the console, even after the service alert is over in reference to a black screen that does not allow use of the home screen of the Xbox One console.

It is our suggestion here to attempt following our troubleshooting a blank TV screen or monitor while your Xbox
One is on support article for assistance with blank screens on Xbox One.
