    XBOX Bitstream Settings


    I am considering getting an xbox S/X for light gaming and video streaming.

    As I have a full surround setup, the ability to bitstream BOTH Atmos and DTS-X is a deal breaker.

    I saw a video on Youtube that showed the setting for bitstreaming. I was surprised that I would need to select EITHER one between Atmos or DTS-X. If I selected Atmos, what would happen when I play something that is coded in DTS-X? Will I no longer get bitstreaming functionality - ie the console would decode to multi-ch pcm?

    The whold idea of bitstreaming is to send the audio track untouched to another/dedicated component capable of quality decoding. The pre-processing to uncompressed pcm usually when there is no DAC component in the delivery chain.

    Any clarification from those in the know or who had tried this out is much appreciated.

    try the xbox one sound settings (hdmi audio) to bitstream out, that worked for mine, then change the bitstream settings in the lower box to your preffered settings. hope that helps

    These are on the fly compressions of gameplay audio, not passing the audio from a disk or stream. Obviously it only needs one or the other ;)

    Dolby Digital via Optical has been there for months. Under Settings, Display & Sound, set Optical Audio to Bitstream out and then set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital.
