Xbox (Beta) Installer Frozen at installer or Gaming Services dont download for PC

I have the exact same problem. It started after I uninstalled the app. However I checked that I don't have any Xbox app folder neither in Appdata/roaming nor Appdata/local. Also I tried starting the install as administrator and it didn't work.

I have no process named Xbox in my task explorer.

I fixed my own problem, but now I have a new one.

I fixed it by running it as administrator. Why did I have to? I don't know. Why didn't Windows tell me to? Beats me. That's why I do my actual work on a Mac.

Now I'm trying to install Metro Exodus. It doesn't show any signs of working and then I get an error message that helpfully tells me that "something went wrong." Well, thanks for that. Any suggestions?

I upgraded to Windows 1903 (build 18362.175) and downloaded the xbox installer for pc game pass. When I run the installer it sticks
on "making things awesome." The thermometer doesn't budge from zero. I have downloaded new copies of the installer several times, restarted my PC many tmes, but still can't get it to install.

When I follow the instructions you give, I see the roaming folder but there is no xbox entry at all.

The Task Manager reports that I'm trying to install the 32 bit version, which seems wrong.

Any suggestions?
