    Xbox Battery Pack Incompatible with New Xbox One S Controller


    Anyone else having this issue?

    My Elite Controller broke after 6 months of normal use so I bought a new S controller to replace it (why would I spend another $150 on sub-par "premium" product). The battery pack that came with the Elite Controller simply does not work withe new S controller.
    I also tried updating the controller with the batter pack inside and hard-wired, but had no success.

    Chatted with Xbox Support and they can replace the battery pack, but I fear it may not work as well. Will be going to the Microsoft Store tomorrow to let them know how unhappy I, who has been around since the beginning of Live in 2002, am with how their
    hardware never fails to fall short of expectations.

    Xbox One S Controller won't charge

    I have the same behavior with my new Xbox One S controller. However, the controller will not work at all with the plug and charge battery. Does your S controller at least power on with the battery?

    Xbox One S Controller won't charge

    My battery pack works with the new controller, but it does not charge like many others. I've tried numerous USB cables. The cables and both battery packs I own work with my old Halo 5 controller, but there has to be a compatibility issue with the One S controller
    and its firmware.

    When you say you've tried New battery packs, was it a new battery pack designed for the Series S/X controllers? The Xbox One Venom battery packs won't fit the new controllers (Venom sell newer versions of these). The controller's much smaller size may have necessitated some minor changes?

    the battery pack you have will be for the last generation of controllers there is a difference between the 2 generations of controllers making them incompatible with the new controllers

    But then if it;s the wrong battery pack, it shoudn't work with either controller ...the fact it works in one but not the other points to an issue with the second controller

    The Xbox One Venom battery pack won't even fit in the Series X controller (or at least not without trimming bits off it)..as the OP can fit the pack with no issue, it suggests it's the right battery pack. Unless Venom have released more than one battery pack for the Series X?

    The Series X controllers available now uses the same official battery packs as the Xbox One and Series S controllers.

    Hi teno1878, the controllers are a completely new design on the Xbox One and your rechargeable pack won't fit on the new controllers. The packs/battery compartment on the Xbox One controllers are flush with the controller and don't pop out. Also shaped horizontally.
