Xbox Battery Pack at fire

Okay, so my advice is that you find a replacement for the battery back asap. Also, was the battery pack the official product of Microsoft/Xbox?

Sorry if I sound like a bit skeptical here, but how could your battery pack affect your house's electricity when it's part of the wireless controller? The only instance of which I can understand this is if the battery functioned like an EMP.

It could also have just been simultaneous issues (for example the battery pack short ciruited (and caught fire) and then the Xbox short circuited as well. Make sure all your cords are properly placed in their outlets and hopefully your power doesn't stay out.

Carefully look over your Xbox and tell me if everything looks proper. Wear some electrical gloves just in case in case something happened with the electrical. Pictures of the console/battery pack might help as well.

Sorry to hear that, exists the possibility that the power outlet in your house is defective or maybe you have a lot of devices connected to the same energy source.

Please make sure to inspect your house with an electrician
Xbox consoles are not supposed to do that by itself

NO YOU CAN NOT (at least not rechargeable Mignon AA batteries)

The Xbox can't know if you have rechargeable AA batteries in it or disposable batteries.

If the controller started to charge non-rechargeable batteries, they might catch fire or explode in your hand.

Microsoft can't let that happen, as people would sue Microsoft to bankruptcy if a controller accidentally charged a non-rechargeable AA battery and it exploded in their hands, getting corrosive battery fluid in the wound and all over their clothes.

Therefore, the Xbox controller will NOT charge the normal, rechargeable AA batteries, as the console can't determine if it is a real rechargeable battery or not.

If you look into the battery compartment, you will see some small golden contacts between the bigger battery contacts. Those are the contacts to charge Play & Charge battery packs.

ONLY THESE CONTACTS will be able to charge the rechargeable battery packs from the Play & Charge kit.

The battery Should be big enough to fit in the battery pack Duracell is big and is produced to fit in the Xbox battery pack
