Xbox Avatars Getting Wheelchairs!

Wheelchairs are to be added to Xbox avatars, Microsoft has confirmed.

Images of the wheelchairs were tweeted by Xbox's director of program management Mike Ybarra
yesterday following a call from players to launch a petition asking for their inclusion.

"No petition needed, we hear you," replied head of Xbox Phil Spencer. "This is something that we've already looked at, not far off."
It isn't yet clear when exactly they will be introduced to Xbox Live.

As well as showing the first look at wheelchairs, the images also appear to feature more detailed avatars, suggesting an upgrade to the existing system could be on the way, too.

Avatars allow Xbox One and Xbox 360 users to create and customise virtual representations of themselves to attach to their Xbox Live profile.

These needed to be wheelchair accessible... because without them, disabled people couldn't use avatars!

the only time i have agreed that microsoft are a little off when it comes to avatars and props, is when it comes to disabilities.

why are there no wheelchairs props for your avatar to sit in,why is there no option to have a physical disability on your avatar?

avatars are supposed to be virtual images that represent their users,are we supposed to believe all users fit their default settings?

 

Why would I want to be in a wheelchair? At least have a motorbike or a skateboard or car. But some disabled peeps likely do play Xbox, good to see Microsoft acknowledging that. Besides, Xbox 1 has Windows 10 all over it's UI so you'll hardly know it's there
I guess. Xbox 360's UI has a much much much more emphasis on Xbox Avatars in it's Social section. If you want virtual stuff for your avatar, it's been here for a long time on Xbox 360, go to Edit Avatar, Marketplace, and shop for props to go with your avatar.
This is why I chose Xbox and not PlayStation. Xbox Live is the best console online service.

 

Thank goodness Avatars where a DAY ONE Xbox Live Feature implemented on Xbox 1 (unlike voice messages, change dash background, etc). So I don't see Microsoft getting rid of Avatars anytime soon even though some may disagree and think they're a waste of time
or too grown up to have them.

I use a wheelchair (not all the time, but it is where I almost always sit while gaming!) and would like to know, have these been released yet? If so can someone provide a direct link to where I can find them as I don't want to get lost in all the different
choices? If not, do we know a definite release date? Thanks

 

Check the xbox avatar marketplace and search for props for your avatar. theres hundreds of prop choice for your avatar if your a boy or girl. If you cant find one maybe theyll add one later.
