Xbox audio not working, tried the FAQs

So, I just got home with my new xbox one, couldn't get the sound to work. I went onto the support and thought that I solved it by manually choosing HDMi as the video entrance and setting the resolution to 1080p as the sound wouldn't work in 720p, but as
I left the settings which is in all black and white, I instead got trouble with all the coloured areas, for example; grey colours turned cyan, pink colours became blue and yellow striped etc. So I can either chose between normal colours on the xbox and all
the games or have audio, any ideas of how to solve this?

xbox one controller

My xbox one controllers aren't working with either of my headsets. The headsets work on other devices and the controller works on other games. Just not working together. I've tried shutting down the console, making sure the volume is correct , checked
the audio on the xbox. Nothing is working.

 

xobx stereo headset adapter on PC

I have an older xbox one controller with no audio jack. I use it on a windows 10 PC. I purchased the stereo headset adapter however mic audio is not working. The PC sees both a headset and mic and I can hear audio through the headset. Mic audio seems as
if it's muted. I have tried multiple headsets, the controller was updated on my friends Xbox One but still get no audio. Chat rep said there's no mic audio at this time but it's coming soon? Is this true? Anyone else have an adapter and is it working normally?
