Xbox App wont let me install games on an external hardrive

xbox app wont let me install games on an external hardrive and I've tried everything,

the drive is already formatted as an NTFS and i have no idea what else i should do to fix this

You should be able to use an external usb hardrive as well as the games you already have installed on your xbox, as long as it meets the requirements for downloading and storing games. I have a 3tb hardrive and use my xbox hardrive as well for downloading
and storing games and it works just fine, you just have to connect it to the usb port of your xbox for it to be recognized as an external device.

You have to format the external hardrive to be able to install games to it

I'm not on the insider program, I've tried sendimg all games to my external hardrive and removing my account and re installing and still not working
