Xbox app won't download large games to my external hard drive

The other day, I tried to open Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the first time, and every time I tried to open it, nothing would happen. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but now it wont even download, it just displays an error before it starts to download. I've tried repairing the xbox app, resetting it, uninstalling the xbox app and reinstalling it, nothing I'm doing seems to work. I've also tried to download other games, doom eternal didn't work (same thing happened) as well as trying to and failing to download the halo games individually which also gave me the same result. and I tried to see if a smaller game would work and this one game that was about 10 gb did work. The error code being displayed is 0x00000001 for the larger games, and I've found nothing about the code in the past few days I've been trying to solve this issue with trying to download larger games.

I just tried to download a few random games just for a test andIt seems to me that there is an issue with me trying to download games bigger than 10 gb for some reason???? If anyone has the slightest on why this might be happening I'd love to know.

Hello There ! If You get the following error code when you try to launch Halo 5 this means that your CPU is below the minimum specifications to run Halo. You may experience poor performance or stability when running this game.

Make sure that your CPU supports SSE 4.1. For more information, visit your CPU manufacturer's website or contact their support. To ensure your CPU supports SSE 4.1, follow these steps:

Go to Start, select Settings, and then select System.
Select About.
Scroll down the list of your PC's specifications to Processor, and identify your PC's CPU.

Compare this with Minimum Specifications to run Halo 5: Forge, and make sure you match or are above this requirement.

I moved my games from the internal hard drive to the external hard drive to see if my games won't kick me to the dashboard I tried it yesterday with a external hard drive I had never used for my Xbox. My games were never on the external hard drive they
were in the internal hard drive. Also I downloaded trove and it kicks me to the dashboard as well.

The fix was simple: I had changed my Music and Video folder to a large, but removable, external hard drive (D

. I had forgotten to plug it in when trying to download movies and music. So the apps couldn't download to the D: drive since it wasn't there.

After plugging the D: drive in, I was able to download again.

All of my Microsoft and Xbox games are downloaded on my external drive including the previous Horizon, which is Forza Horizon 4. I changed where new apps are stored when downloaded from the Microsoft store to my external drive but it still wont download Forza Horizon 5 to my external drive. On the Xbox app it wont show my external drive as an option to download to. I am able to download any game from the Microsoft store and Xbox app to my external drive except Forza Horizon 5.

They should download to where your games & apps are then.

The system wont download a game update to a hard drive if the game isn't on that hard drive.

Have a look at your storage devices in the console settings just to make sure no games or apps are stored on the internal drive & your external drive is set to default for downloading games & apps.
