xbox app won't connect to console

Up until yesterday I had been using the xbox app to stream from my console for a long time, but then it suddenly stopped connecting. I told the app to 'forget' the console in the assumption that I would be able to just connect to it again, but now it just
refuses to accept its on the network. I've followed all the troubleshooting advice (multiple power cycles on the xbox, the laptop and the router) with no change. The console is directly wired to the router, but the laptop is on a wifi connection. I'm convinced
it's not the console as I can still connect to it on my smartphone via the smartglass app whilst the phone is connected via wifi, and the laptop itself can sucessfully ping the consoles IP, so it's definitiely on the network.

I've tried re-installing the xbox app (using version 11.13.6008.00000) itself to no affect - some other users have been directed to download the beta version of the app, but when I clicked the 'Get The App' button nothing seemed to actually install, so I'm
not sure what's going on there either.

Any help?

Connection to Xbox One via Xbox App

The Xbox App will not connect to my Xbox One. They're on the same network. My Xbox One is updated. My Windows 10 is updated. I've tried restarting both the PC & Console numerous times. I've tried resetting the data for the Xbox App. Nothing is working. I've
changed nothing since it was working yesterday. I've tried both the beta Xbox App and regular. It just won't connect and instantly says "We couldn't connect to your console." Why?

Windows 10 Xbox app unable to connect to Xbox

I'm unable to connect to my Xbox from the Xbox app on my Windows 10 desktop. I'm able to connect from the Xbox app on my iPhone and Surface 3. I've tried resetting the app on my PC. The app lists the Xbox as available but won't connect when I click connect

Hi Bored, Sorry to hear your experiencing this issue. We have received few reports on this from other users and the developers are investigating. A couple things we would like you to try.

Try the following troubleshooting guide: It references Smartglass but do not worry the info will still work for the Xbox App.

Download the Xbox App (Beta) located here:

The Beta version is running the latest version: 14.13.29009.00000, see if your able to connect. IF not, click the smiley face on the left NAV, and click "Report a problem" this will report and provide some helpful data for the developers to investigate.

Nothing running on that network but phones, a tablet, PS4, and the XB1. Idk, I'm stumped here.

While you have nothing else running on the network, I guess EggsBoxJuan meant that your PC has a third party firewall software running.

Maybe you recently installed an anti-virus suite like Norton, McAfee or the likes which include a network firewall that supposedly protects your PC from network attacks.

However, since your PC is behind a router, that router actually is the firewall that protects your network from internet attacks, and the firewall on your PC would only protect you from attackers that are inside your home network.

So if you did install a third party firewall application (or a security program like Antivirus, that might have a firewall included), try to disable or uninstall the security program.

Windows 10 has it's own Antivirus program and firewall.

Also, you mentioned you're getting "the same error" when you manually input the console IP.

What error message do you get?

I'd suggest you to power cycle the Xbox and clear the cache of the app.

When I've had this happen in the past, I've found that doing a full power cycle of the Xbox, and the device you're using the Xbox App on tends to fix the issue.

Hi. on your Xbox go to settings/ network/ network settings/ advanced settings/ alternate MAC address, select Clear and then select Restart. Then try the connection again.

Do you have your console setting set to let the app connect with the device you wish to connect?

Are both devices signed in with the same account?
