Xbox App (Windows 11 Home Insider Preview) won't let me choose a drive to install games on

Hi,

I recently got interested in Game Pass for PC since I have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription for both Xbox and PC.

My laptop's internal SSD being too small, I bought a bigger external SSD which I've used to download Steam games.

But there's a problem : whenever I want to try and download a game from the Xbox app, I can only choose the C: drive, despite the D: drive showing up under "Change where new content is saved".

How do I fix that ?

- Open Windows 10 File Explorer (Windows + E), locate and right-click on the USB drive, select "Format".

- Set the NTFS as the target file system, tick "Quick Format" and click "Start" to start the formatting.

- When the process completes, click "OK" to confirm.

Afterwards try to use it again.

The above issue occurred on a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.

I was able to "fix" the issue by unenrolling from Xbox Insider Hub's Windows Gaming. I then uninstalled the Xbox app. I restarted my machine. I then re-enrolled back in the Windows Gaming Preview. I reinstalled the Xbox App. I still had the same error, so I unchecked the option to "Ask me for install options on every install." Game Pass Games now install as normal rather than the advanced options under C:\Xbox Games.

Identifying the issue was seeing the option "This game supports advanced management features." on the 7 games that were already installed.

In conclusion,

I believe this is some sort of Xbox Insider Hub Preview issue with the Xbox App because the 7 games were installed without the option of C:\Xbox Games that I had prior to reloading Windows 11.
