Xbox App Windows 10 - Download SO SLOW with a Gigabit Speed

Same with me this actually helped thank you very much, been trying to find a fix for days now.

I finally managed to fix it, at least for me... was getting 7-9 MB/s and I am now getting 33-40 MB/s. The Windows Auto-tuning level was disabled.

Pause all downloads and close the Xbox app.

Here is what fixed it :

1. Open PowerShell as administrator.

2. Enter this command -> netsh interface tcp show global.

3. For me, the "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level" was set to disabled.

4. To enable it, enter this command -> netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

5. You can enter the command at step 2 to validate that the Auto-tuning is set to "normal"

Launch the Xbox app and start the download again. You should see improved download speed. I hope that this helps !

Thanks for this. I'd changed this setting at some point or another for someone else who was having experiencing initiated ANY downloads from the Microsoft Store. I remember looking it up but had forgotten. Worked great today!

Side note for someone experiencing misc Error Codes when trying to download from the Microsoft Store or Xbox App and you're tired of searching google: that issue was it's own nightmare that was resolved only with a bizarre series of steps involving,

An in-place upgrade with a Windows 10 ISO with Restore Point enabled,

Forcibly deleting the Microsoft Store apps folder in Program Files and AppData with Unlocker,

It BSODs on purpose (as expected),

Still able to login anyway in a corrupted state-

Then using System Restore to restore Windows App folder data correctly.

Sounds ridiculous but it actually worked better when using power shell commands, group policy edits, registry tweaks, reinstalling Apps using official methods ALL failed to fix the issue. And doing a full reset just wasn't worth the trouble.

Nice find but I highly doubt that my system is running into that same issue. I have a fresh install on an M.2 drive and it's still absolute trash for speeds. Every other launcher is downloading at the correct speeds except XBOX game pass client. It's extremely annoying.

I just preloaded Dyeing light 2 and it downloaded in about 10 minutes. It's double to size of Back 4 blood that I am DLing currently and B4B has been going for over 30 minutes.

It's not server side to throttling, as it does not impact all computers sharing the same internet connection. I do LAN parties with friends, some of us have the problem and some don't. Problem follows the machine, regardless of whose house we're at.

The source is definitely client side, but it's basically impossible to guess what the catalyst is with zero feedback from Microsoft.

We've tried all the silly peer settings for windows downloads, disabling additional network adapters, driver updates, etc. but so far no fixes. One person did a clean reinstall and it worked, but the problem eventually came back for them. I suspect it is something else that those of us with the problem do either in our routine windows settings or a conflict with some third party app, but I'm not willing to spend the time required to do a completely clean install and re-test every time a click a new button to try and find the point at which it breaks.

I suspect the problem is rare enough (and obfuscated by lots of generic "slow download" complaints) that it's easy for Microsoft to just ignore. Even most of these posts clearly defining the issue are filled with lots of posts from people that just don't the difference between MB/s and Mb/s muddying up the thread.
