  1. Xbox App unable to recognize games

This issue just started for me the other day so I dowloaded the beta app and it will let me upload the screenshot to Xbox Live but when I share it the image isn’t visible and is covered by a message that says we can’t display this right now. It still let’s
me click share but it never appears on the activity feed. This even after selecting Forza Horizon 4 from the list that appears in the beta app.

    :)

    App not recognizing keystrokes.

For some reason the Xbox (beta) app isn't recognizing my keystrokes. I'm unable to report the problem threw the app due to this issue.

The problem is the tag in the properties of your DVR game file. If you go into the properties, then details into tags; You have to tag the file as the game name. For instance if you were trying to post a Player unknowns battle grounds video then the tag
would be "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds". If you are using the beta app i find its quite easy to just copy the name of the game you are trying to upload off the list and just paste it as your tag. I hope this works for you!

Xbox App unable to recognize games

    Hello Tyler,

Sorry for the issue with the beta app. Are you able to get the full Xbox app and not the beta. You can try a couple solutions to see if it helps. We could re-install your Xbox App. here are the steps to uninstall and re-install the Xbox App:

1.Click Start, and then type Windows Powershell in the search box.

    2. Right-click, and then select run as administrator.

3.Type the following command to uninstall Xbox App:
    Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

    4. hit Enter.

Launch Windows Store and re-download and install the Xbox App.

Let us know how it turns out.

    Thanks

    Brad

  5. I already had the full Xbox app, that’s where the issue started, so I downloaded the beta app because some suggested it would work on there. I saw there was a new windows update and after installing that I can now upload screenshots of Forza Horizon 4
again but not Battlefield V. I assume this is because BFV isn’t technically out yet?

    Hello Tyler,

Thank you for keeping us updated. Is this issue occurring with any other games? The game, Battlefield V, is still in it's beta testing phase. This may be the reason why screenshots are not available for this game. That is why we need to find out if every
game is being affected by this issue or only Battlefield V. Be sure to let us know the results!

Xbox App unable to recognize games

    Hello Tyler,

The error displayed can usually be due to a network miscommunication.

Are you accessing the screenshots through the Xbox application?

Or does this occur on all devices when trying to view these screenshots?

Clarify this for us and we'll be right here to respond!

    Best wishes!

  9. I am on my PC, using the Xbox app on my PC. All captures recorded with the Microsoft Game DVR while playing on my PC. I can see the videos in the app under captures like usual. However, when i try to upload them to Xbox Live a message appears that says
can’t upload capture, we don’t recognize this game. The problem is now happening with Forza Horizon 4 as well. I’ve found posts suggesting trying the beta Xbox app and I was able to upload a few Forza Horizon 4 captures before the problem occured on that app
as well. The beta app wouldn’t let me upload BFV clips either. I tried resetting the regular Xbox app in the app settings and that works for awhile before the issue comes back. I’ve seen posts as old as 2016 stating this issue.

Xbox App unable to recognize games

@Ackis I've looked at the thread you posted and have some things to say. I think you may have missed some info here.

I'm running on a GTX 980ti, and have no trouble recording clips. The issue seems to be more related to uploading to xbox live such as posting them to your activity feed. I've recorded game clips of things like the Battlefield 1 beta on PC, and it works,
It shows up in my folders, I can trim it via the app etc... But when trying to upload it publicly you get the following: "Sorry, we do not recognize this game."

I also had issues with a game called Squad. Except I was able to record and upload it, however, it did not show up in the feed, but I could share it directly via messages, and the clip was empty with nothing happening.

Coincidentally, these issue are happening with games that Xbox isn't displaying. For example, when playing games like Arma 3 or World of Warcraft, your gamertag will be displayed as "playing Arma 3" instead of "Using Xbox App." Those games seem to have no
    issues recording and uploading.
