Xbox app stuck on "Resume Install" on multiple games after failing to uninstall

The xbox game app is displaying "Resume Install" for both Age of Empires IV and Microsoft Flight Sim. Clicking "Resume Install" flashes the button to "view progress" or something for about quarter of a second, then the button changes back to "Resume Install" and nothing happens. This problem arose after attempting to uninstall both, after an hour they were still stuck on "Uninstalling" and I was forced to reset my pc.

I have tried repairing both xbox app and microsoft store, then resetting both xbox app and microsoft store. No change. Manually removing the game files - which I cant be sure of as it is made nearly impossible because of the way xbox app stores files, this seems to have only freed up around 20 gb. Also no change to the button behavior.

I am out of ideas, this isn't the first time xbox app has done something like this. I believe it has something to do with installing games on an external drive but this usually causes no issues.

Right now xbox app has taken ownership of around 200gb of my drive and I have no way to reclaim it.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

The suspend and resume feature is handled differently by different games (probably due to their resource requirements). Games like Forza 5 and Battlefield 4 seem to struggle with the suspend and resume feature but other games I have had resume the next day
after using multiple other apps.

This used to happen to me when resuming games or when I had multiple apps open. Now I just hard quit games/apps after I finish playing.

I recently downloaded Football Manager 2022 and it constantly said an update was available but whenever I tried to update it nothing would happen so I decided to uninstall completely to just reinstall it but after uninstalling it, it just says "resume install" but nothing happens when I click that either. Anybody have a fix so I can actually reinstall and play the game?

Ive gone in and deleted every trace of Football Manager 2022 from my PC then deleted and reinstalled the entire Xbox Game Pass app and it still says "Update" or "Resume Install" on Football Manager but neither do anything when clicked.

can u give more detail on how u uninstalled it in the first place?

New halo patch update was stuck so i figured i will uninstall the game and reinstall it again. But I run into this problem. I uninstall it through Settings Apps but It did't unistalled properly, it didn't deleted the files, so the corupted files are there
and it's taking all the space. Also i am not unable to reinstall the game agaib through Xbox Beta App because it shows installed failed so i need to delete those files.
