XBOX App stuck on "Preparing 0%"

I am trying to install a game from the xbox app (I have game pass) and after a long wait (about 30 minutes) in which I get "Preparing 0%", I get the error 0x87e00005. I couldn't find this error on the website so I don't know what to do. I tried resetting the xbox app and the game services. I also tried reinstalling both, still nothing. I installed all updates from windows update (including the optional ones) and also I installed all updates from microsoft store. I tried installing other games, none of the above worked. I found a solution online saying I need to reinstall windows, but I really don't want to do that, so that will be my last option.

If there's anything that I haven't done yet that might help, I'd like to know. Thanks!

I see. If that fails, try downloading the game via Minecraft launcher. You can download the launcher through the Microsoft Store app, Xbox app, and the Mojang website. After installing the launcher, log in with your Microsoft account and download Microsoft Dungeons.

In the meantime, after that 30 minute wait on "Preparing 0%" the game actually started downloading, but it got stuck at 100%. So after about 20 minutes at 100% I decided to close the XBOX app process and reopen the app. Then the game started installing so I let it do it's thing, but I couldn't launch it, so it was still not working (the game we're talking about is Minecraft Dungeons, if that makes any difference). Then I saw your reply and proceeded to uninstall the game and do the things you mentioned. I took ownership of the folder "WpSystem" from its' properties and renamed it just as you asked. Then I changed the new app install path from my SSD to my hard disk under advanced storage settings. Now, I opened the XBOX app and queued the game to install to my Hard Disk (where I also renamed the folder). Right now I'm again stuck at "Preparing 0%, but I'll wait again like the last time and hope it will launch this time (if it actually gets installed).

I also need to mention that I have other games on my SSD that I installed previously, which work just fine. In the past I also had games installed on the hard disk, so the WindowsApps folder is present on both my drives. Also I don't know if I should mention, but I tried installing games on both drives, none of them work.

Do me a favor, on your hard drive there is a folder called ''WpSystem'', take ownership of the folder and rename it to ''WpSystem.old'', save and try downloading the games again.

If the problem persists, go to settings>system>advanced storage settings and click ''where new content is saved'' and try to change where new apps are saved to your hard drive and save and try downloading games again.
