Xbox App recording has a 40 second limit?

Hello,

I got a new laptop on Black Friday and it is a Dell Inspiron 5558. Has 1 TB HDD, 8 GB ram, Intel i3-4030U 1.9 GHz CPU, Intel HD Graphics 4400 and running on Windows 10 Home x64. I got the OS build and drivers fully updated.

I have the Xbox One and the laptop on the same network subnet and they can see each other. I tried both wireless and wired connections.

The problem I am having is that when I start recording a video stream on the laptop through the Xbox app, the recording stops at ~40 seconds. If I use wireless, the video becomes scrambled at 40 seconds but audio continues. If on wired, the video stops
at 40 seconds.

I tried recording 3 different games all with same result. I know these recordings were at least 2 minutes long but the video still only encodes up to 40 seconds and stops. I checked the DVR settings in the Xbox app and it is set to record up to 2 hours,
Game DVR encoding is set to standard. and on streaming quality I have tried low and medium.

Is this a problem with the app or does the laptop not have enough horsepower or what? I did try the high performance power profile on the laptop and it did not help.

Game DVR does not record the whole video

let me explain my problem: I want to record gameplays through the Xbox App. So when I´m streaming from my XOne to the Xbox App on Windows 10, it only records like 20-40 seconds of the gameplay. Lets say I´m recording 10 minutes and then I stop the Recording...
it takes about 3-4 seconds to save the Video etc.. And right after that another grey bar appears in the bottom-right corner with some Details about the Video. And it says that the recorded video has a length of 24 seconds, or 13 seconds, just randomly any
length between 10-40 seconds, Doesn´t matter how long i record.

Is anybody facing the same issues?

 

Game DVR terminates after 40 seconds.

Hello everyone! The issue of Game DVR - I start recording and it terminates after 40 seconds. It is strange that the recording indicator work until I stop recording, but the video does not exceed 40 seconds.

Someone faced with similar?

 

Hi Evan, Can you tell us what version of the app your using? Are you also experiencing this issue with Xbox App (Beta)? In the mean time I will report this to the developers.

Certainly. The version showing under settings on the app is 11.11.19012.00000. I am not familiar with the beta app, how do I try it?

I just tried the beta version and the same problem occurs. This beta version is 11.11.11005.00000. I did a test video with one game which was about 2 min 30 seconds. When the app said the recording was complete, I went to the Game DVR page and the video
shows only 40 seconds.

Reading your post, it sounds like you are trying to record game streaming from an Xbox One using GameDVR on Windows 10, correct?

 

Yes that is correct. I connected to my Xbox from Win 10 and then started the stream. Then on the laptop I used the keyboard shortcut to start the recording (Win+Alt+R). Let the recording run for 2 minutes and then pressed Win+Alt+R again to stop the recording.
I then get a notification that the recording is complete. I then stop the stream and go to the Game DVR page on the Xbox app to review the recording and found that it is only 40 seconds long. I opened the recording folder in windows explorer and it is still
only 40 seconds long.

 

Any update? I still have the issue.

Just a quick update. I re-imaged the laptop and installed an SSD drive in it and got the OS updated. I noticed the Xbox app is now a new version - 11.12.9011.00000. However the 40 second problem persists. Another issue that just got added is most of
the time, the keyboard shortcuts don't work, default or custom.

 

I have the exact same problem as well, I Recorded a full hour of gameplay with chat and only 40 seconds of it registered and saved, I have tried with only 1.5-5 minute gameplay and still the problem persists, any update with what might b the issue, have
tried to change all of the settings to standard and the problem still arises

I ended up returning the laptop. There wasn't much else reason to keep it since this app is still broken. I'll wait another year or so for it to mature then I might consider trying it again.
