    Xbox App & Permissions (7 Days to Die)

    Hi,

    So the issue I'm having is that I'm unable to launch the game "7 Days to Die" through the Windows 10 Xbox App.

    The game launcher opens as normal. When I select "Run game", Easy Anti-Cheat loads, and the game attempts to launch. The window immediately closes.

    I have checked eventviewer and can see the following :

    "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

    and APPID

    {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

    to the user DESKTOP-OIV34HA\user SID (S-1-5-21-1578396636-3946909804-3939585075-1001) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container

    Microsoft.GamingApp_2205.1001.6.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe SID (S-1-15-2-1723189366-2159580849-2248400763-1481059666-1951766778-2756563051-3565589001).

    This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."

    I have tried looking in both the registry and within the Component Services Administrative Tool, but nothing obvious springs to mind, and I fear I am out of my depth. I have located the application in question within HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and APPID {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD} respectively. Upon attempting any permissions changes I am given the error "access is denied". The owners of the keys are both TrustedInstaller as they should be.

    I am struggling to figure this out and would love to get to the bottom of things!

    If it's of any relevance, the game install is located on a separate disk to the OS.

    Cheers in advance for any replies!

    :)

    All permissions related to any Xbox App-based games can't be edited. The official Xbox App does not allow you to change any permissions yourself. No permissions to edit anything related to it, or the game in question, in the registry either.

    I have used "take ownership" before on an Xbox App game with disastrous results. It seems that the Xbox App's permissions are so locked down that I am not allowed to touch anything, even when it is stopping me from launching the game.

    In conclusion, I should've spent my gamepass money on Steam instead T-T

    You could try changing permissions for that folder.

    Replicate steps in the link below but with the desired folder (it works with more recent windows versions) ;

    You can also try this, in case the other won't work:

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

    This issue is only with the Game Pass game "7 Days to Die". No other games are affected.

    I have checked this morning and the problem persists on the C drive also.

    I have tried completely removing the game and reinstalling, and also using the Xbox App's "Verify and Repair" option.

    I've also removed all files relating to the game, including from users/user/appdata. None of this has changed the result as it appears to be a permissions error.

    Hope you're doing great today mate

    May I know if this is happening with this specific game?
    And also, could you try installing it to C: drive or create a new disk partition and install it there?
