Xbox App On Windows 10

Recently the Xbox app on my computer in a way stopped working. I was on my PC and was going to join my friends in an Xbox party through the Xbox app. When I joined they said all they could hear was static. So I unplugged my microphone and I was still making
static even though my microphone was unplugged. So i restarted the app, signed out, and tried to delete it then reinstall but nothing worked. This all started happening after I signed into my Xbox and did an update on it. Please I need some help.
