xbox app on windows 10

for whatever reason when I go to connect my xbox one to the windows 10 app it cant find my xbox. Even after typing in my ip address it still cannot find it, I have done all the available updates on both cpu and xbox. I'm signed in on the same account and
email address and on the same wifi network so I have no idea how to fix this. would really love some help thanks.

Changing gamer tag

You can't change a gamertag into a previously owned one but you could sign in to the Windows 10 Xbox app with the old one though.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, you will need to click the install to download any digital content for PC.

If you have a Windows 10 device, you can now use the Xbox app to connect to the Xbox Live service.

There are several factors that may have caused your Xbox One not to connect to your Windows 10 PC. It is possible that the SSID used by both devices are the same. If your router uses the same network name for both networks, you can configure the router to
assign different names to each network. Some wireless routers will default to using a single name (SSID) for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, while others will default to two separate names that help you identify the frequency band. By creating separate
names for each, you can explicitly configure the PC and the Xbox One to use a specific network and frequency band.

If you need assistance in accessing and changing your router settings, we suggest that you contact your Router manufacturer.

After making any changes, make sure to restart your PC and your Xbox One console.
