  1. Xbox App on Windows 10 - Starfield Won't Launch after a message about too many devices,

I have a total of 7 devices associated with my Windows account after removing some old ones. I have other games on Gamepass I can play from the Xbox App. All drivers and windows files are up to date. I have reset the Microsoft Store and Gamepass App. Starfield in fully updated and I verified all files again. It refuses to start and I continue to get a "Too many devices" error when trying to do so. I have also restarted Windows. Really frustrating which is why I prefer playing games on Steam.

    :)

Xbox App on Windows 10 - Starfield Won't Launch after a message about too many devices,

    Hello JonathanPlummer,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Based on the description, you are trying to play Starfield and is unable to because of an error. Let us check and see on what we can do to help address your concern in a timely manner.

Getting an error "too many devices" while playing on the Xbox app with Starfield may occur if you have exceeded the number of devices that can be signed into your Xbox account at the same time. If you have already removed some devices under your Microsoft account and still getting this error, this might be a bug that we need to report. Let us confirm it though by trying to check again the devices added in your Microsoft account.

    1. Sign out of other devices.

    • Try signing out of your Xbox account on other devices that you’re not currently using. This will free up a slot for the device you’re trying to use.
    2. Remove unused devices from your account.

    • You can remove unused devices from your Xbox account by going to https://account.microsoft.com/devices
    • Sign in with your Microsoft account and select Show details under the device that you want to remove.
    • Then select Manage > Remove to remove the device from your account.
You can sign in to your Microsoft account on up to 10 devices at the same time when using the Xbox app. This includes Xbox consoles, Windows 10 PCs, and mobile devices running the Xbox app. If you exceed this limit, you may encounter the “too many devices” error and will need to sign out of one of your devices before you can sign in on another one.

If after performing the steps and the error still occur, let us know so we can submit a bug to the dedicated platform so that this can be investigated by our engineers.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

Xbox App on Windows 10 - Starfield Won't Launch after a message about too many devices,

I was able to get this resolved after 90 minutes of rebooting, resetting the MS Store and Xbox app...etc. When I posted this I had 7 devices so it should not have been an issue at all.

    games for windows app

You won't find them on the app. You would need to download the Games for Windows app again, and launch the game from there. Good luck getting the app to work, as many users are stating they can't get it to work on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
