Xbox App On Windows 10 crashing when trying to load messages.

So yea, what the title says. Been doing this since yesterday.

The app crashes if I try to use messages and when trying to use the Xbox website message system the page doesn't load.

Thought Microsoft should be aware of this.

I have the same problem. Even deleting ALL messages using Smartglass Beta did not help - Xbox App keeps crashing as soon as I go to the messages section. On Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.

As of today 1/1/2016 I can once again access my messages via web browser on xbox.com which is great but my xbox app for windows 10 was still crashing when I clicked on messages (could still get notifications of messages and access messages for a specific
player, just like before). I did as Mr Ghost suggested to see if there was a system message from xbox live and sure enough there was! I was able to delete it via smartglass for iOS. Once I did that I could once again use messages from the xbox app for windows
10.

 

Hi, HankTheYank27, thanks for reporting this issue. The development team is taking a look.

 

You probably have a message from xbox live that can only be deleted via smartglass. Delete it and log in again and everything should be fixed.

Yea I don't have smartglass because I'm the last guy who doesn't have a smartphone or tablet. Looked on my console and there are no messages. I can see the Xbox message account but can't delete the conversation.

And yes, the app is still doing this.

 

I have also had this problem for a week and can report that it is fixed by doing what papa suggested.

You cant delete the "Xbox" team messages from the xbox, and xbox.com will be crashing for you when you go to messages so you will need to use smartglass to do it.

I would suggest either:

-Try launching an Xbox 360 backwards compatible title, then press Menu + Start on the controller and see if you can delete the xbox message from the xbox 360 guide.

-Borrow a phone from a friend if you can.

Then in xbox app, you need to go to Settings > and under account, Sign out

Re-Launch app, Sign in and you will be working again.
