  1. Xbox app on pc will not open

My xbox app on pc will not launch. I get stuck on the black loading screen and then it closes after a couple minutes. I have tried reseting, repairing and reinstalling aswell as doing the same with gaming services. There's no update available on widows or on the app itself so I don't know what to do.

    :)

Xbox app not opening on PC?

Hi, Lauren. My name is Ron, I'm an independent advisor. I will be more than happy to help you.

Please try the steps one at a time to resolve the issue.

Solution 1: Repair the Gaming Services app.

Please go to Settings > Apps > Apps Features. Select Gaming Services, then click Advanced options. Click the repair button, try logging in to the Xbox app, and see if it works.

Solution 2: Uninstall and reinstall the Gaming Services App

Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.

In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

Restart your device and try to use the Xbox app again and see if it works.

    Solution 3:

Please open the PowerShell in admin mode and paste the following below:

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Xbox app on pc will not open

Hello Freddie,my name is Marvina, I will be happy to help you.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through, based on the information she has provided me, it appears she is experiencing an issue with the Xbox app on her PC.

This problem can be caused by several factors, including:

A problem with the Xbox app. The application may be corrupted or outdated.

A problem with gaming services. Gaming services may not be working properly.

A problem with your PC. Your PC may not meet the minimum requirements to run the Xbox app.

Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:

Check the minimum Xbox app requirements. Make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements to run the application. You can find the minimum requirements on the Microsoft website.

Check if updates are available for Windows.

Microsoft periodically releases Windows updates that may fix known issues.

You can check if updates are available by opening the Settings app and selecting "Update & security." Then, select "Windows Update" and follow the instructions.

Check if updates are available for gaming services.

You can check if updates are available by opening the Settings app and selecting "Games." Then, select "Gaming Services" and follow the instructions.

Restart your PC. Sometimes a simple restart can fix problems with apps.

Xbox app on pc will not open

Hi I had this same problem when I tried using the Xbox app for the first time a few days ago. I searched every solution I could find and nothing was working for me either. I finally fixed mine and got it to work and narrowed it down to one of two things:

    1. I downloaded the media creation tool and did an upgrade in place on the pc. Basically reinstalling windows 10 without having to lose everything. After that the Xbox app was able to launch and worked perfectly fine. This is where I’m not sure what really worked because…

    2. I had my external storage unplugged when I did the windows 10 install via the media creation tool. Everything worked fine up until I plugged my external storage back in. When I did that, it went back to a black screen with a white Xbox logo. Unplugged again and it launched fine.

Here’s why I believe it could’ve simply been the external storage causing the issue: When I tried saving the installs from the Xbox app to my external storage, Xbox said my ext hard drive was not formatted to ntfs so it wouldn’t allow it to be stored there. As I was going through solutions I remembered reading something dealing with bit locker and the encryptions. So it’s possible the incorrectly formatted ext hard drive was causing the Xbox app to not launch properly. I reformatted the hard drive to ntfs and Xbox allowed me to place installs there. Everything works now. Good luck 👾

Can't Verify/Repair Game Files on Xbox PC App

Reset the Xbox PC App to its default settings and clear any issues that you were facing with the app. Please follow the steps to reset the Xbox PC App:

    1. Close the Xbox PC App: Make sure the Xbox app is not running in the background. You can check this by looking for the app icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) and right-clicking to close it if it's running.

    2. Uninstall the Xbox PC App:
    • Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
    • Go to "Apps" or "Apps & features," depending on your Windows version.
    • Look for the Xbox app in the list of installed apps.
    • Click on the Xbox app and select "Uninstall."

    3. Clear App Data (Optional):
    • After uninstalling the app, you can also manually delete any remaining app data. Open File Explorer, and in the address bar, type: %localappdata%\Packages
    • Look for a folder named something like "Microsoft.XboxApp" or "Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay."
    • Delete the folder if it's still there.

    4. Reinstall the Xbox PC App:
    • To reinstall the Xbox app, open the Microsoft Store app.
    • Search for "Xbox" in the search bar.
    • Find the Xbox app in the search results and click on it.
    • Click the "Install" or "Get" button to reinstall the app.

    5. Launch the app and sign in:
    • Open the Xbox app after the installation is complete.
