Xbox app on PC doesn't let me start a party..

That generic support doesn't really apply here. The problem is with a PC microphone, not an Xbox One microphone. The Xbox App on PC detects the mic and it works if I start a party via the app, but it doesn't work in any capacity on the Xbox One for parties
or game chat.

Thats what I'm doing.. the only thing I am doing different from playing keyboard/mouse is the controller itself. but when i plug it in every setting on the pc changes to controller mic. Even though the controller has no mic. So I go back through all the
pc settings and xbox companion settings and change it back but the xbox game bar will not let me use the usb mic anymore. I have to unplug the controller and reset the pc to be able to use my mic again. when I start a party in the companion app it says my
mic is working , but if i am in a party on that app for some reason I'm not in a party on the game bar... so if i start a party on the game bar the mic still doesn't work..

Thank you for the speedy reply. Unfortunately I've already seen this solution posted in another thread, but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

I've redone all the steps again, just to be sure but with no luck.

Would it be possible for the power management tools to be at fault here? I haven't had this problem on the desktop pc and honestly this is the only difference I could think of. Other than that both pc and the laptop have the same version of windows 11, all fully updated, etc.

I have searched the web for some possible solutions and here are some steps you can try:

• Make sure Xbox services are running. The Xbox app for Windows relies on certain background services to work on your PC.
  
  • Press the Windows Button then type Services.
    
  • Right-click over the Services App from the list of results.
    
  • Then select Run as Administrator
    
  • Scroll to the bottom and find the following services: IP Helper, Xbox Live Auth Manager, Xbox Live Game Save, Xbox Live Networking Service, Gaming Services.
    
  • Do this with each of the services listed above.
    
  • Right-click over the service and select Properties.
    
  • Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic.
    
  • If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services.
    
  • Click Apply and OK to save changes.
    
  • Restart your PC and try again.
    
• Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter. The Windows Store Apps troubleshooter is a useful tool for detecting and fixing common problems with Windows apps.
  
  • Press the Windows Button then type Troubleshoot Settings.
    
  • Select Troubleshoot Settings from the list of results.
