Xbox app not detecting newly installed game

unfortunately the app only recognizes it when installed by it, it won't help to copy the files, if you format for example and have it installed on an external hd, then you'll need to reinstall everything again.

I have the xbox game pass and I found that I just had to uninstall and reinstall the xbox app(had already installed the 90 gb the previous night). Then run the app the first time, log in and then close the app. Restart the app and it should detect your
flight simulator install. Running the flight simulator from the newly installed xbox app seems to get me through the infinite "press a key" loop.

Kindly make sure that you have canceled the installation and then perform a powercycle, kindly restart your Xbox App as well to detect that you don't have the game installed.

Won't the Xbox App detect the files if I just say install again?

Every game launcher has the detect installed games feature. Why not in the Xbox app?

Windows 10 games and apps does it differently. The games are encrypted and this encryption is unique to the Windows install. If you install Windows fresh again (even on the same PC) the games will be locked. You will to need to delete the WindowsApps folder to reclaim the space and install the games again.
