Xbox App Not Connecting

I've been using the Xbox App that comes with Windows 10 for a long time and it's worked okay for months. Yesterday it kept failing to connect my laptop to my Xbox One and I thought there was a fault with Xbox Live where it would be fixed and the fault is
still going. Why can't I connect my laptop to my Xbox One anymore? I tried the option Add A Device and when I entered my IP Address it failed. I can't do streaming anymore. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

Funimation Xbox App Not Connecting

It would be nice if this app didn't boot me out all of the damn time and all the reviews on the store say the same EXACT thing. Xbox, fix your crap. I pay for Gold and for the subscription and the app should be a lot better than what it is.

 

Possible suggestions:

• Make sure your Xbox One allows smartglass connections (Xbox One --> Settings --> Preferences --> SmartGlass Connections)
  
• If you are using Wi-Fi on either device, and if your router has dual connections (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz), ensure those two networks do not share the same exact SSID (network name).
  
• Despite the last step, if possible, try to have a direct ethernet wire connection on each device for the best streaming performance.
  
• Reboot EVERYTHING! (console, computer, network hardware)

Thanks anyway. I tried the setting and nothing worked. I use wi-fi and I intend to do so seeing that I never had problems with this before and I don't want a cable running across my floor to my laptop. I don't understand why it was working okay for months
and now it never does.

Based on the information you've provided, it sounds like your Xbox One Console and Windows 10 PC are currently on different subnetworks. If your router is using both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, you will want to rename each of them something different in order
to differentiate which network is being connected to. By creating separate names for each, you can explicitly configure the PC and the Xbox One to use a specific network and frequency band. Once you have renamed each subnetwork, please connect both your Xbox
One and your Windows 10 PC to the same subnetwork and try again.

If you find you are in need of further guidance regarding subnetworks or additional network troubleshooting, you will want to reach out to your router manufacturer. If you purchased your own router separately, please contact that manufacturer for further
assistance. If your router is a gateway provided by an ISP, please contact your ISP for further assistance.

The final, and best, option would be connect to your router using a wired network. Please see this guide on

Improving Xbox App for Windows 10 Streaming and note that the first suggestion is using a wired connection. This is the optimal setting for streaming between Xbox One and Windows 10.

Miss Bijoux. Many thanks for the information. This is weird, it's working again and I never needed to change anything. I have no idea what happened. It's been working fine for months, then it broke and it's been down for about four days and then it's working
again as if it fixed itself.
