XBox app not connecting to device

i have the exact same problem. it defeats the purpose of the the xbox app.

Thanks for your update. Have you checked your Xbox App connectivity settings on your Xbox One? These settings affect usability of remote apps for Mobile and Windows 10 Devices. To access them, visit
Settings>Preferences>Xbox app connectivity on your Xbox One. There you would want to enable connectivity for devices that are signed into a profile on your console or any device with the Xbox app.
