Xbox app Library Corruption

Hello, my Xbox app on my desktop pc is missing all my games. I get an error code which brings me to the Xbox troubleshooting site but nothing on there can help with this particular issue. The list of installed games on the left shows no games are installed even though they were there three days ago when I was last using my computer (see the screenshot below).

I have had a similar issue happen once before, and at that time I had found this post on the Xbox forums. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-library/6c460902-28a4-424b-9e4b-c0c10aed1d51 The solution provided had apparently worked for the individual and so, at that time, I followed those same instructions and the issue was resolved. However, this time I have followed those same instructions, hoping that this was the same issue, but the issue remains. Beyond all this, my games themselves are not launchable either from the shortcut or from the actual game file.

I have even searched for a game within the Xbox app to see if I can redownload it but it gives me a weird frown face indicating that I cannot install it for some reason (see the screenshot below). I do not know if this has anything to do with the issue but the Xbox app also takes at least 5 minutes to open and load each time it is closed and reopened.

I do have a backup of my computer files on an external hard drive which I can restore from but that is my last resort and so I figured I would post here first. Please help me, especially because I do not want this to become a recurring issue.

Hello after trying this my library is still empty. However I now have the ability to click on the install button for games that I want installed, but when I click install it says I need to install Gaming Services. It takes a while to install and then when it is done I am still unable to install games. When I click install on a game it again tells me that I need to install Gaming Services which then opens and tries to install again. I have done this several times and it still doesn't work even after closing and reopening both the Microsoft store and the Xbox app. I have even rebooted after installing Gaming Services and it still does not let me install games and my library is still empty. I do not understand what could have possibly happened here and all my Xbox games are now unusable for several days. I'm quite tired of this issue.

After completing the steps you suggested, the Xbox app still takes an extremely long time to load and when it finally does, my library is still empty. The games I try to launch from my file explorer shortcut will not launch, if I search for a game in the Xbox store however, I now have the ability to click the install button. This is odd since the game is already installed it just won't launch. I will try installing the game and see if it does anything but this still does not fully solve the issue and it especially has not alleviated my concerns that this may happen again.

Please perform this procedure. All of these steps may take some time to execute, just be patient.

1. Press the Windows + X keys and select Command Prompt (Administrator) or Windows PowerShell (Administrator).

2. In the window that will open, copy and paste the command sfc /scannow and press Enter.

3. When finished, type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and press Enter.

4. After the above, perform the same process with DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth.

5. In the Windows browser type wsreset and execute (this will open the Microsoft store, close it).

When finished, restart the PC and test.

I hope the instructions were clear, I will keep an eye out for any questions you may have.

Right-click the Start button in the lower left corner of the main screen and select Windows PowerShell (as administrator).

On the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLLHN

In the Windows search bar type "Services".

Scroll to the bottom and find the following services: XblAuth Manager, XblGameSave, XboxGipSvc, Xbox Live Game Save, Xbox Live Networking Service, Microsoft Store Install Service, GamingServices, Game Bar, Xbox TCUI and any service with "Xbox" in its name.

Right-click on the service (you must do this for each of them) and select Properties .

In the Startup Type section of the "General" tab, make sure it is set to Automatic . If it is not already started, click Start.

Then click Apply and OK to save the changes.

Restart the device and try again.

Your solution worked beautifully for me. One of the recent updates for Win 8.1 preview messed up all of my libraries and moved my music to "This PC > Music" from "Libraries > Music." Once I restored the libraries and moved my music back to the music library,
everything was fine.

This problem is not isolated to the Music Library. All of my libraries had been corrupted and all my files had been moved to "This PC > Documents/Pictures/Videos/etc." Could have far-reaching consequences, especially with Xbox apps. Luckily the fix was easy!

FYI I'm using an HP Envy 4 notebook (4-1110us) running Windows 8.1 preview.
