Xbox App keeps saying location is not set up for installing games

I have tried reinstalling game services and following the guide you linked me, none of it seemed to work or make a difference. i also tried updating windows yesterday after the problem arised. no difference either

Let's try something different:

A. Create a new NTFS partition, after that go to Windows settings > system > storage > advance storage options (only windows 11) > where new content is saved > under apps select the recently created partition

After that restart your PC and try installing a new game

B. Try taking ownership of both WindowsApps and XboxGames folders, after that restart your PC and try again

Press Windows + E and go to the drive where the folders are created

Enter to XboxGames folder (then the WindowsApps) and right click on it and select properties > Go to the Security tab and select Advanced:

Click on Continue in the Permissions tab > Select Change > Click Advanced in the Select User or Group window, then Find now

Select your user account and click on Ok > Click on Ok and Apply on every window and close them.

Im really out of idea's. none of it still worked. i got it to make the D drive not have the Warning then when i go to click on it, the Warning comes back. also when i uninstalled gaming services, i went into the xbox app and tried downloading a game and both drives worked, it starts download up to about 49MBs and stops. then the download fails and warning comes back

I see... No problem. Let's try something different (If one doesn't work proceed with the next)

A. If you go to the Microsoft store and try installing a new app. It works?
If yes, go back to the Xbox app and give it a new try

B. This can be a bit odd but try reinstalling the Microsoft store and all its components

D. Run the SFC tool to find and repair possible system corruptions

E. Perform an in-place upgrade for your system (don't worry, your content will remain)

If you're on windows 10 steps are the same, you just need to download Windows 10 ISO

That's really strange
We basically tried everything to fix this problem... If creating a new partition doesn't work
It seems that something wrong with your current windows installation.
Usually the in-place upgrade fix that. But as isn't your case the best option would be perform a custom installation for your windows system
