Xbox App keeps closing on freshly installed PC

I also had the same issue. I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on a new SSD, and afterwards the Xbox-app would crash randomly. When I saw your Windows version I remembered that I had forgotten to install something.

You see I also have Windows 10 Home N, which is a special version of Windows 10 that comes without certain features due to some EU court ruling or something like that. Anyways, it doesn't really matter, since you can get these features by installing the
Media Feature Pack. I had forgotten to install this pack, and installing it fixed the issue.

Here's how to install it:

The Media Feature Pack for N versions of Windows 10 is available for download as an Optional Feature. To install the Media Feature Pack, navigate to Settings > Apps
> Apps and Features > Optional Features > Add a Feature and find the Media Feature Pack in the list of available Optional Features. Note, you will not be prompted to restart your computer, but
you must restart in order to successfully complete installation of the Media Feature Pack.

Bummer. I had intentionally installed the N version because I don't want any of that stuff. I want as lean a windows as possible since I use it for exactly one reason: MSFS2020. For everything else I use Linux.

I'll give installing the media feature pack a try when I get a chance and report back then.

The game seems to run, but xbox app now crashes sometimes even when I just scroll down in the app. Not sure if it has anything to do with any of the following:

- I have two monitors

- I installed Xbox Game Bar when it asked me to and cannot now uninstall it. Launching it appears to do nothing.

- I'm running Windows Home N 64bit. Note the N.

- I'm signed into the computer with a local account, not my MS account.

Actually, interestingly, I just discovered that the MS store app was suddenly open in the background downloading the game. So maybe this time the xbox app simply closed down after handing over the MSStore app?

Anyway, I'm downloading FF7 atm and will see if I can play it. If so and the game itself is stable, then I guess I'm all set for FS2020 which is what I'm really here for (though I always wanted to try FF7, so this is a good opportunity).

I can't see any potential issues with a dual boot Linux Windows install as far as I know. While you can sign up directly with the Xbox App, you can also sign up via a web browser:

Before you sign up via the web, close down the Xbox App. When the subscription is activated, load the app up again.
