I'm not sure when the update went out, but it's a completely new layout than I remember, so it's been updated. It is 100% unresponsive. Well, I can scroll up and down, but nothing is clickable, not the game cover art, not the menus, not settings, profile, nothing. Doesn't work.

I also notice it is eating up WAY more CPU than it probably should be 14% - even Steam only uses 1-1.6% CPU! Opening XBox app kicks my fans to high and my PC sounds like it's ready for lift off.

I read some solutions other people suggested such as repair and resetting, rebooting the PC, I uninstalled/ reinstalled. I repair/reset the gaming service, microsoft store, etc.

What else is there to do?

    :)

    Hi,

The specific error you encounter in event viewer is actually quite common in Windows 10 and isn’t necessarily the reason for this Xbox app performance issue. Event viewer usually indicates various errors and warnings, but there’s often no real concern here even if/when it’s a critical priority level with high CPU usage. There’s really nothing to worry about this particular one.

There’s not currently any outages affecting the Xbox app on PC:

    Xbox Live Status

    https://twitter.com/XboxSupport

Can you confirm your PC Specs, please? Do you come across any greyed out icons in the Xbox app, or is everything loaded/rendered correctly and just not allowing you to select anything?

Any third party programs installed on your PC? Software such as Anti-virus software, ad blockers, registry cleaners and VPNs can affect overall performance and even completely disable or prevent games and apps from working correctly. It would be best to completely uninstall these, or you can temporarily disable them in task manager. You may also want to disconnect any peripherals and external devices from your PC.

Have you tried to adjust the relevant security permissions in the Component Services Administrative tool as mentioned in the error message? If so, what were the results from this?

Try to reset the account cache for the Xbox app:

Go to Credential Manager > Windows Credentials (not the Web option), select XblGrts|DeviceKey and remove.

Follow this file path: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxldentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker

Note that the highlighted part of this depends on your system, so it can vary.

Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, which will be deleted from the Xbox Identity Provider

    Also refer to this guide:

DCOM event ID 10016 is logged in Windows - Microsoft Docs

Restart your PC after trying the above steps, then launch the Xbox app again to see if this still occurs. Connecting to another network such as a mobile hotspot may help as well. All the troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried should’ve resolved this though, and there’s unfortunately no guarantee anything else would be successful.

If you continue to experience this issue, especially as this appears to have been possibly caused by the most recent app update, you may also report this as a problem so it can be looked into and hopefully addressed soon. Be sure to share any helpful diagnostic data and detailed info.

    Hope this helps.

I did the defrag which solved a minor defragmentation and I also did the System File Checker, which also fixed some corruption. I have not yet done chkdsk because I wasn't sure what parameters to use.

I restarted my computer, opened the XBox App and checked my eventviewer and got 2 of these events.

I updated my Windows 10 to the 21H2 with the link you provided and it is still unresponsive.

Is the Xbox App tied to anything else that could have been damaged / reinstalled?

XBox App is 100% unresponsive since latest update

Hello again, the Xbox App works in conjunction with the Xbox App companion, see if you have it installed and with login done in the same account.

Usually if there are any errors in the App or update, the system usually warns, but sometimes it may not occur.

You can try to make some corrections with the procedures below.

    Defragment your Windows 10 PC
