Xbox app games install stuck on preparing windows 11

I have tried everything possible suggested on Microsoft forum and even 3rd party sites no solution for me still.

I have tried powershell solutions as well as reinstall windows 11 itself and even reinstall xbox app and services.

Tried resetting and repairing the said app and services.

Disabling IPV 6 also worked for me

Alexander, disabling IPv6 worked for me. Forgot that I had asked our broadband provider to disable that for some weird mesh wifi setup we have. Anyway, in short: our broadband doesn't support IPv6 so disabling this in the network settings fixed the issue.

I also confirm, that disabling ipv6 from my ethernet connection worked just perfectly.

In case someone needs to know how to get this option disabled:

Windows + I , then go to "Network and Internet" - "Advanced network settings" (scroll down to the bottom) - "More network adapter options" - Click on your Ethernet adapter, and look for "Internet Protocol version 6" (uncheck), click ok and that's it.

Well I'll be. Everything was working fine, then it just stopped installing games. I tried every convoluted solution going, but this worked straight away.

It's weird because nothing in my setup had changed. I installed one game, went to install a second and the problems started, so the cause is a mystery.

Thanks for providing a fix, wish I'd seen this before reinstalling Windows (twice)!
