XBOX App for Windows causes IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bugcheck

Everything is 100% up to date. Every other application works. The XBOX App will cause the crash of the system when it is launched. And this did not start happening until the update for that app around January 16th.

FYI: Former MS Platform Support tech, so if I'm posting, you can assume all the basics were covered.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000119 (0x000000000000a000, 0xffffa30e46681000, 0x000000000000002a, 0x000000000000002b). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\091223-6890-01.dmp. Report Id: f70a61c7-345b-4589-aee2-bbd228771b2c.

The minidump files show a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133) stop error caused by the xboxgip.sys:

BugCheck 133, {0, 501, 500, fffff8003b573358}

Probably caused by : xboxgip.sys ( xboxgip!gipHandleAudioData+1ce )

The xboxgip.sys is an Xbox related driver.

However there was heavy network activity during the crash so the crash could have actually been caused by a third party driver involved in networking,

Can you provide the following file which has more information on the crash:

C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP

The memory.dmp file will be quite large, you could zip and compress the memory.dmp file with a third party application such as 7-Zip.

Update on BSOD issue

Hello MattedHarbor972,

With regards to BSOD with Xbox App on PC. A fixed has been pushed since last Friday and you should check for an update to the Gaming services via the Windows store. Your gaming services should be Gaming Services version 3.63.16003. To verify this

• Open the Xbox app
  
• Click on your Profile and then click settings
  
• Then click on About and under Versions you should see Gaming Services version 3.63.16003
  

This update fixes all the issues except the Avira configuration. There is still a known compatibility problem with Avira anti-virus that may cause crashing. We do not have an ETA, but an update should be released soon to address this specific issue.
