Xbox App for PC - Wrong Email Address, Can't Change Account

Trying to install Xbox App for PC so I can use my ultimate gamepass on my PC, and it continually defaults to an alternate email address and there does not be any way to change it.

I logged in on my Microsoft account (same as Xbox) and when it took me to store for the app, it swapped me to my wife's account, plugging her email address into the app once installed.

So I tried again, after uninstalling the app. Logged myself in, went to install app and is swapped to her account, saying it was already owned. I then went back from scratch, logging myself in, store swapped me over to wife's account, I logged her out
and logged in as me, reinstalled app - still her email address.

Within the app, Sign In and other options in the menu do not appear to give you any opportunity to change the account. With no response from the online Microsoft help and a call waiting time of up to 90 minutes or more, any suggestions from here would be
appreciated. I can't image there isn't a way for the app to support multiple accounts, given family/household usage.

Appreciate the quick response.

While I was on with support, my daughter (back from school and owner of my original Xbox One) found the solution, convoluted as it may be.

Both the Console Companion app and the Xbox Beta app were defaulting to my wife's email and requiring an account set-up before they would go further (Sign, Settings, Need Help? - all brought back to create a new Live account screen) - all, that is, except
for trying the grayed-out Go Back button on the bottom left of the Console Companion "Create Account" screen.

Clicking that brought up a number of options, including using my Microsoft/Live account instead. Tried that, it logged me in to the Companion (took a couple tries for some reason), but once the Companion app was signed in properly, opening the Xbox Beta
app showed it to also be logged into the correct account (mine).

Still unclear by there's no "Sign Out" or "Have an Existing Account" prompt - pretty basic functionality missing...but up and working now.

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar issue.

Hi There,

Have you tried adding another email to your account? Don't remove anything but maybe adding a new email will help with changing the account.

You can't change an email address on an account if you can't access the other email address. To change email address on the account, it requires you to enter your details for the old account.

I recommend you talk to an official Xbox/Microsoft support agent and maybe they can help you and tell you the correct procedure.

Hi there,

you can't merge accounts itself or fully move the Xbox Live Account to a different Microsoft Account, but something that could work for you is changing the primary email address for the Microsoft Account.

My assumption what steps might be required are:

- Change the primary email on the New Unused Xbox Account account to something else (you might need a new MS account/email for that) so that the Wanted email address is no longer attached to a Microsoft Account.

- Change the primary email on the Old Xbox account to the new wanted email address, so that that Wanted email address can be used to sign in to the Xbox main account.
