    So I downloaded the Xbox app for PC a bit over a month ago to play some coop in Halo MCC. I immediately ran into the issue of the game download maxing out my connection causing other games and programs to lag or disconnect and I cant find any way to limit
    the download speed in the Xbox app.

    Due to my adsl connection not being very fast the estimated time for the download was almost 48 hours and not being able to use my internet for anything during that time would have been very inconvenient so I downloaded a program called Netlimiter that can
    limit the bandwidth usage of PC apps and ran their free 1 month trial. That solved my issues temporarily but yesterday I got massive lag while playing another game and after some troubleshooting I found out it was once again the Xbox app downloading something.

    The summary of what happened is this: The Xbox app started downloading something, I dont know what because I was never asked or informed. The Xbox app was NOT running at the time and I do not have start up with windows boot turned on. There was NO way to
    stop this download. Terminating the process simply caused it to restart ~3mins later.

    This left me unable to use anything connection-related on my PC for the 2nd half of yesterday. What kind of absolute malware is this app???

    How do I avoid this issue happening again without relying on 3rd party programs?

    Which beta app are you having issue downloading? The Xbox Console Companion App (Beta) or the Xbox Game Pass for PC app (Beta)? You'll need to have he beta companion app downloaded first before you can download the PC game pass app (beta) and you will also
    need to have Windows update version 1903.

    Restart your PC and then make sure you have the requirements to download the PC game pass app.

    Hi Little, Try using the Xbox App (Beta) version to see if the issue reproduces. Just go to the store on your PC and search for "Xbox App Beta" to download.

    Thanks for reaching out to the forums! Can you uninstall the current version you have of the Xbox App and download and install this version . Xbox App for Windows PC | Xbox . Please check back and let us know if this fixes your issue.

    Xbox Console Companion won't connect to Facebook

    I had the same issue, but found a way around it.

    I unlinked Facebook completely on the Xbox companion app on my PC.

    I then downloaded the Xbox app onto my phone and connected it using the phone app. it connected fine and the Xbox companion app on my pc then updated with my Facebook linked to it with no further problems. works fine now

    Hi there TJSluder welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Well, I suggest you try this:

    Open the Settings app it is the gear in the start menu.

    Open Accounts

    Click Sign-in Options

    Scroll down to Privacy

    Uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update and restart."

    Restart your PC!
