Xbox App errors 0x00000001 and 0x80004005 - App Unusable

Hello,

I have been struggling to do anything on the Xbox app, I was trying to reload Naraka and i got error 0x00000001 and i found out that it's happening if i try to install any game. I then decided to try some of the games i have installed already (Forza, Hades, AoE) and they all throw "Something went wrong launching your game - error 0x80004005". I am on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate US region and I am not sure when did this start exactly but i played Hades a few days ago and everything was fine.

I am on Windows 11 21h2 (Build 22000.739) with all possible updates installed. I have tried to troubleshoot this for hours yesterday and i have gone through countless posts here and in other sites and tried all kind of different solutions like:

- Making sure Xbox and gaming services are started and set to automatic

- Reinstalling gaming services after removing it with the PowerShell command

- Updated NVidia drivers

- Restarted my machine several times

- Relogged into my MS account in the store and Xbox app

- Checked that my region is set correctly in windows settings and in registry

- Went to add/remove programs and reset/repaired all relevant apps

This is beyond frustrating now as i essentially can't play or download any games on game pass at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, that's really odd

I'm thinking another options to try:

1. Try creating a new local user on your account and see if the error persists there

2. Are you installing the games on the C: drive? Or another drive?

If it's another drive, did you already changed via Windows Settings where new content is going to be installed?

If not, please do it. If yes:

2.1 Create a new NTFS partition and select that new drive as "where new content is going to be installed" and try installing a game on that partition

3. Try going back to Windows 10 creating a bootable USB drive with ISO file:

(You can try creating a new NTFS partition and install there Windows 10 to test how it goes)

Thank you for the reply.

I followed all the steps and did the SFC and DISM and that didn't solve the problem. I then loaded W11 from the media tool on a USB and did the in place upgrade but it also didn't help and i am still getting the same two exact errors and i still can't launch or install any games.

In that case let's hope the next big windows update fix the issue

I don't think it's a third party program because i tried a clean boot with all 3rd party services and programs disabled and it still happens.

Well, I guess I will have to live with it until it either fixes itself in a future update or I reinstall my windows (which I don't want to do at the moment to be honest).

You did help me find a work around at least, so thanks a lot for that. I really appreciate your support.

Well, is hard to find which file is specifically doing this on your account

I was thinking... You could try uninstalling third party programs via control panel. Could be that one of those, with a recent update is causing the issue

But other than the clean boot / installation seems the next step :c
