  1. Xbox app Error code (0x409) 0x8008005 Windows 10

    Hello,

When starting the Xbox app I always get stuck at the loading circle just spinning around followed by an eventual fail.

The error that it gives me is: We are unable to sign you in at the moment. Try again later.

and an error code of: (0x409) 0x8008005

    I've tried

    1. Check if all Xbox related services are running

    2. Fresh installing all default windows apps (including the xbox app)

    3. Trying to see if the Xbox Beta app on the store would work (no luck)

    4. SFC/scannow

    5. DISM (all methods)

Build of the app is: 29.30.2001.00000

Windows Version is: 1703 Build 15063.332

All updates have been installed (not insider updates)

    :)

  5. Hello,

Tried the following, still got the same error. I have tried running the trouble shooter before and got nowhere with it.

I have tried disabling all start up programs other than Microsoft services, as well as running in safe mode. None of which is working, I am still receiving the same error.

  7. Huh... so this was a wild ride. I managed to fix it finally, though I followed some steps of my own and I'm still not fully sure what happened.

I will try to document all related events and commands to the best of my ability here, in-case someone else runs into this issue.

So, first things first that I would like to note but forgot to mention, for a while now I was not able to drag and drop between non-admin and admin mode applications, this; as far

as I was aware, was fairly normal though I do remember that not being the case at one point in time. Not too long ago, this stopped being the case, I would say about 2 maybe 3 days ago.

Despite this I still had the issue occur with not being able to launch the Xbox app properly. Though, before going through with the steps that you provided I tried to launch the Xbox app again.

Shockingly enough, it worked! ...Though not for too long, I tried launching Forza 6 Apex to see if I can get it to log me in to play, and: nothing. Continuing on with my day trying to see if anything else will happen, I launched

it again and had issues getting it to start again. Just to note, I have scanned my computer with malware bytes several times, and it hasn't picked up any viruses/malware, I also have done a look through myself as well as verifying

all the svchost.exe(s) running and everything seemed clear. Another thing to note is that about a week ago I Installed the Xbox beta app again to see if I would have any luck with that. Also when the Xbox app launched I logged into

my Xbox account (added it, I am using a local account) and it worked just fine! For a little bit that is...

So I moved onto working through your steps. Uninstalled the Xbox app on it's own, rebooted, and tried to install it through the windows store.

I have noticed windows store being a bit buggy recently, but this time around it was very apparent that it wasn't downloading the Xbox app at all.

I decided to run Wsreset (Start Menu > "wsreset" > Enter)

It relaunched the windows store! Though now it is loading forever.... interesting...

So now it's time to debug! I'm going to list all steps I partook here,
    USE WITH CAUTION!

These commands could open up security holes or cause issues if not properly used. I am not a trained professional. I take no responsibility for any issues this may cause.

First, I checked out my execution policy, I have been curious about this for a while, and I wanted to see if there was any issues.

Next, I made currentuser execution unrestricted

Next, I uninstalled the windows store, and reinstalled. Skip this step, It didn't work

    After that I ran this:

What this command does, as far as I'm aware is reinstall all the stock windows apps.

Now what I find funny is, I have actually ran this before with no success, but long behold... it worked!

I had to run wsreset again to get the store working, but the Xbox app worked
    IMMEDIATELY!

So I think this all had to do with a combination of Windows Update resetting some settings I had, as well as the above.

Thank you for your help! I really do appreciate it.

I do apologize if I seemed a bit snappy or impatient with the steps provided, this has been an issue that has had me scratching my head for a while since it has made no sense to me.

I do hope this helps any others with this weird issue. To be completely fair, as more of a power user who loves to tweak; I doubt many others will run into this issue, but we will never know, right?

If you have any feedback on what I did here, or even would like to give a better explanation of what is going on, that would be much appreciated! Either way though, thank you!

I will be keeping an eye out for any other weird behavior, though from what I can tell everything looks A-okay.

    I spoke too soon.....

The issue is back again, yet I'm not 100% sure what's going on. Could it be my profile is corrupted? This is getting really frustrating.

I ran the trouble shooter again but Xbox is spitting out the same error.

  10. Hello!

Sorry to keep you waiting, I just kept forgetting to reply for some reason.

Anyways, making a new account works for a bit until I sign in. So essentially it works perfectly initially, but when I sign out of the users, and then sign in again, it fails to sign into my account.

So I think the issue here is something to do with my Xbox Account. Any ideas?
