Xbox App downloads stuck at Preparing 0%

Is the download stuck at 0%? Only preparing?

I see that you have been attempting to resolve an issue with the Xbox PC app and are unable to install games. I am happy to help and provide some additional suggestions that will hopefully resolve the problem. May I ask why are you using a VPN? Was this a suggestion someone recommended?

Solution 1: Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode; this error could also be attributed to issues with the Microsoft store not recognizing your entitlement to the game. Would you please click on this link Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode | Xbox Support. Then scroll down and click on the drop-down arrow and look at the steps for How to enable offline play on your device.

Solution 2:

1. Open the Xbox APP
   
2. Sign out of the App
   
3. Then click install on any game you wish to install
   
4. You will see that no installation progress will start
   
5. Sign back into the App and see if the installation starts
   
6. You might also see an install update, and I would click on that
   

Sometimes you need to fix the connection with your account and Xbox services.

Solution 3: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files. Sometimes corrupted files can cause issues.

Solution 4: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows . Sometimes you can have a situation with permissions or profile corruption. Please follow the steps in this link to see if that fixes the current issue you are having.

Hi there welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Have you tried uninstalling and installing the game?

I see. If that fails, try downloading the game via Minecraft launcher. You can download the launcher through the Microsoft Store app, Xbox app, and the Mojang website. After installing the launcher, log in with your Microsoft account and download Microsoft Dungeons.

In the meantime, after that 30 minute wait on "Preparing 0%" the game actually started downloading, but it got stuck at 100%. So after about 20 minutes at 100% I decided to close the XBOX app process and reopen the app. Then the game started installing so I let it do it's thing, but I couldn't launch it, so it was still not working (the game we're talking about is Minecraft Dungeons, if that makes any difference). Then I saw your reply and proceeded to uninstall the game and do the things you mentioned. I took ownership of the folder "WpSystem" from its' properties and renamed it just as you asked. Then I changed the new app install path from my SSD to my hard disk under advanced storage settings. Now, I opened the XBOX app and queued the game to install to my Hard Disk (where I also renamed the folder). Right now I'm again stuck at "Preparing 0%, but I'll wait again like the last time and hope it will launch this time (if it actually gets installed).

I also need to mention that I have other games on my SSD that I installed previously, which work just fine. In the past I also had games installed on the hard disk, so the WindowsApps folder is present on both my drives. Also I don't know if I should mention, but I tried installing games on both drives, none of them work.
