    Xbox app doesn't see C drive at all

    I recently fresh installed Windows 11 on my PC, and while I was trying to redownload my games I noticed there was no option to install games to C, only to other drives.

    I went to the suggested location in the settings and set the install location to C, as well as unchecking the box for "ask me for install options on every install". As far as I can tell this is the only place where the app even acknowledges the C drive at all. Nonetheless it still didn't change anything, and it still asks where I should install it, no C drive option present.

    I would just try installing directly from the Microsoft Store but rather annoyingly it seems the ability to do that has been replaced with a "Install from Xbox app" button.

    I've looked around on Google and messed around with the install location settings in the settings app to no avail.

    I'd rather not have to reinstall Windows as I've just spent the evening setting everything up and saved installing games for last, if anyone has had a similar problem or wants to try something let me know. Thanks.

    :)

    Xbox app doesn't see C drive at all

    Well, I've figured something out. It's not an ideal solution and Microsoft should really just get their butts in gear and fix this, but here's what I've found and the temporary and annoying solution I'm using

    After trying everything in @L4c3rd4's reply it finally came down to reinstalling Windows. Using the provided tools and instructions it wasn't so bad and I only had a couple broken things that either fixed themselves upon opening or needed a settings tweak or two.

    I went into the Xbox app to see if the problem was gone, and while there was a little banner across the bottom asking me to install gaming services I ignored it since installing it would be pointless if the app was still broken. To my relief, when I tried to install a game I saw this:

    [IMG]

    It seemed all was well so I went along and installed Gaming Services since the app was begging me to do so.
    But after installing it I unfortunately ran into the same problem, there was no option to install games to C, just D and E. So it seems gaming services is our problem child here.

    Either way my current solution is to run the command get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers, which would force uninstall gaming services (since it can't be uninstalled through the settings app like normal), then to install as much as I can before gaming services installs itself again.

    Hope to see this one fixed soon. Thanks for the help.

    Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

    I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

    Hey BlueMoon1890, how are you today? Hope you're well.

    For now, the game pass app doesn't allow us to choose exactly where we want to install games, in which drive we want.

    But, there's good news hehe, the game pass app on windows is about to get an update that will change that, it will give us the freedom to install the games wherever we want, also, will give us full access to its files. :) The update has no official date yet but will come soon we believe. :)

    But there are a few things we could try to see if your C: drive appears as available there:

    So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

    Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

    Click Check for Updates;

    Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

    Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Then try this:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    Then do the same for the Xbox app:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Then, try to uninstall and install the Xbox app. :)

    ______________________________________________________________

    If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command.

    In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

    Then, after you do it, you're going to open the game pass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again

    ______________________________________________________________

    If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

    If you're using Windows 10:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    If you're using Windows 11:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    First, you will download it > Open the ISO Image tool > Open a file inside it called SETUP.exe > Select upgrade > download from the cloud > Keep games and apps.

    Cannot download Minecraft Dungeons.

    i was able to find you a temporary fix.

    So the problem seems to be that the default drive for new apps is not the main Windows drive. Changing it to the default drive (i.e. C:\) resolves the issue.

    hopefully your C: drive isnt small! hope this helped
    If you mean I should install the game in the C: drive then I've tried, but it doesn't even install. Or if you mean i should install the Xbox beta app in the C: drive, then that is also the case. I have also tried downloading it from the Microsoft store to
    no avail.
